I dont know, the hurlocks look alright now in DA2. they just need better costumes instead of the weird S&M stuff.

The new hurlocks kinda look like Skeletor-rejects now..

Stop saying that like it's a bad thing.

The mail they are wearing looks like **** though, I'll agree on  that.

Depends on what brand of orc.

The hurlock helmet is ugly and it makes all the hurlocks look like clones more than any other armor piece. Or maybe it's just too much focus on their faces. DAO enemies were all clones, but it never seemed this obvious.

Hmm...  I guess DnD 3.5 rules orc?  I wonder if that even means anything.

I just thought of something. Is they could develop a system to randomize the face of hurlocks in order to make them all look different, that would really be something. But then, I wonder if we would notice the difference.

They could just cover them up in armor. As in a face covering helmet. At least then it wouldn't be as painfully obvious as it is now.

I suppose.  But, part of their savagery is their face, right?  To inflict fear?

I guess, though I'd still prefer that to them being clone troopers. Ideally they'd make a couple of models each or mix and match with some random generator as you suggested, but I suspect this is about time constraints.

The only problem with the new Hurlock is that it doesn't exactly look like they're rotting. Where has the effect of the taint gone? Also, David wrote some very vivid descrption of Darkspawn armor in the novel. They are suppose to consist of bits and pieces from different armors twisted into strange shapes with spikes coming out of them. I much prefer that image to the armors that Hurlocks have now.

I wonder if with DA:O they ever released mods to change the looks of the hurlocks... But, then, we may have to deal with nude mods, etc....

What about the sounds? In DAO they made very low scary sounds, but on the demo available on Youtube, one of the comments were that these new darkspawn sound like sqealing pigs.

Edit: just rewatched. They do sound like pigs lol.

I didn't mind the new hurlocks ... until I saw them running. HOLY MOSES, it's like a cocaine filled chorus line trying to do cabaret.

They don't look good.

Admittedly they were a bit too green and orkish in DA:O

If they ALL looked like the special ones from DA:Awakening, [the acolytes or whatever] that is to say, pale-skinned with rows of sharp teeth and facial scarifications, they would look badass and not like orks at all.

So put me in the camp of "They could look way better and more terrifying, and still not look like the ork wannabes from DAO"

Currently the DA2 Hurlocks are neither frightening nor impressive. They look stupid, especially with the low-res coif.
