Yeah, or other fictional bands in the future.
I wouldn't like any current stuff to be in game, unless it was an extremely famous and fitting to the scene (ie Mordin -  not quite on topic, but thought it was worth a mention). They couldn't cater to everyone with their genre preferences, unless there was an option to import a personal playlist for the captain's cabin for example.

Mass Effect 3 will already be very disapointing for all the true fans that are left & the RPG elements will be completely removed so is a bit of rock realy that bad?

I want Mass Effect 3 to be good in the sense that it would have a story & not just a bunch of shooting but that is a far fetched hope so some famous voice cameos or music would be harmless & you will prey for it after your first hour of nonstop shooting.

Before I saw your suggestion, I was going to post, "Oh, god, please no hipster sh!t." But I think Daft Punk might be the only people who would be able to pull it off. Maybe have them DJing at Afterlife or something.

I really don't like the Chili Peppers, nor the Foo Fighters.  I do, however, like Mors Pricipium Est, Equilibrium, and Rhapsody of Fire, so those would actually fit with some parts of the game (what with the epic music). Just get some speakers for your iPod and set'em up next to you while you're playing ME3. Or just use the music player on the xbox.
