This thread is brilliant. And yes, as a straight woman I'm finding myself becoming confused. So far, almost all the people I quite fancy in this game are female. Two of them are relatives, one is me, two are old women - of these two old women, one is an (alleged) infanticidal shapechanger and the other's my mum. There are only two fellas in this that I actually 'would' - a possessed psychotic cannibal and a hairy dwarf.

I need to go away and rethink my life.

Or realize it's a game written by men.

Yeah who'da guessed that, eh??

Hate to shoot that theory down but  there are more women than men on DA's writing team. :D

Gotta say, if I look at it without the connotations of family, Mama Hawke is pretty smoking...

kjdhgfiliuhwe wrote...

I finally realized who mama Hawke reminded me of. Nicole Kidman.

...Aaaaaand not interested anymore.

I cannot fathom this odd lusting for the elderly woman that is the main protagonist's mother than so many of the people who have replied here exhume.

What about the character modelers? Yeah, I bet they're blokes. Make all the women as fit as possible to befuddle our straight female fanbase (as this is is clearly why they're doing it :P). Befuddle them further by making two of the men look like ... well, Carver and Wesley. Sheesh.

Wut, Carver is adorable.

Carver is a retarded puppy that I like to kick. I can't decide whether I prefer Lady Hawke or Bethany. I mean, there's ze bosoms, but then there's the eyes...

There's that wich I completely agree that's why I can't nor think I would ever be a mage in my playthroughs so it will be mostly Rogue and Warrior class. Not only the bosoms and their eyes but also their voice, I liked Bethany's voice in the demo videos.

Well, Morrigan was right "Temptation lies in the forbidden" The Warden fell for it and followed her and now well wrong as it might be....meh, what can one do? one can always ask for forgiveness in their death bed .

Not only that, but Isabela, the presumably f/f love interest, was written by a woman, too.

Yep that's why I'm so excited aboutt the Isabela romance.  Sheryl wroter her and frankly for me it's a good sign when a writer volunteers and loudly at that to write a certain character:

Mary Kirby wrote...

Sheryl did write Isabela. She called
dibs on her almost before Gaider had finished telling us she was on the
list of companions.

Gaider: So, we've got Bethany, Carver, Varric, Isa--
Sheryl: DIBS! WANT! LET ME WRITE HER!
Gaider: Ooookay... Sheryl is writing Isabela, I guess.

Ms. Chee must really like Isabela.

Yeah. I guess I'm down with the sickness.

Also she is Mike's favorite char.  Isabela is gonna be awesome!

Is it wrong that I find Mama Hawke and Bethany more attractive than our hero?

No way Bann  Fem Hawke is so hawt  , i love those eyes ♥

I hate the 'fashion hair'. Her hair looks like David Bowie's.

That's what my hair looks like. Does that mean I have Bowie hair??

...suddenly, I feel sexier than ever. :o

LiquidGrape, Michelle Pfeiffer is astronomically hot in that video. She was only 31, though. How old do you consider to be 'elderly'?? :))

And like I said earlier, this is the first Bioware game I can recall in which each companion is reasonably attractive.

(Most Bioware games before this had a few uglies. ME1 - Wrex. ME2 - Mordin, Grunt. Jade Empire - Black Whirlwind, Hou. DAO - Shale, dog. Etc.)

??? If Shale and Dog were all you could come up with for "ugly" companions, clearly DA:O was a very good game for companions indeed.

Personally, I never understood the fuss over Zevran, although I'm keeping him on board to catch up with Isabela with my close lady friend Leliana. (I will be so bitter if there is no reference to her "partying" with a Grey Warden in DA2...)

What I want to know is how old is Mother Hawke supposed to be? She looks fabulous for having three adult children. :o

You're right. I just wanted an excuse to link that video...!
But regardless, Pfeiffer remains absolutely gorgeous to this day, I think.

I never really bought into this idea of "age". But that doesn't stop me from frequently falling for older women...

Indeed. Her waist!

LiquidGrape - hah, that's better. And yes, still utterly gorgeous. And thanks for posting the vid anyway. I'd forgotten that before there was Mama Hawke and the Hawkettes, there was Michelle Pfeiffer <3

I'm going with she was 14 when she started popping them out. That'd leave her in her mid to late 30s I believe. It would even fit with her falling in love with an apostate mage, since she was a noble, and I imagine would have been thrown into an arranged marriage at a young age otherwise.

If she's in her mid 40s looking that good, I'm going to cry foul!

Also Helen Mirren. Emma Thompson still looking pretty damn good too. I'd happily look like any of these women (including Mama Hawke) right now, despite them them all being older than me. Ahem.

I know. When I saw that picture I looked really closely to see if her head had been photoshopped onto some 25 yr old's body. But no. It's actually hers. Like you said ... Gah!

WhisperingCity (Love your name, by the way) - come back! She's not real, just an incredibly attractive collection of pixels! Get your self esteem from the loo, give it a bit of a wash, and pop it back in! :wizard:

I agree with what you're saying about Mirren, but I just cannot stand the woman! <_<

Emma Thompson, however, just seems like the nicest person.
