Possible spoilers!

Let's face it guys, we'll probably see a secret companion when the game is released. If there is one, which I hope, who do you think it will be? I say it's going to be the darkspawn that the architect sent as an emissary in DA:A who warned you about mother. But the problem with that is, what if you decided to kill the darkspawn instead? Well, I suppose we'll end up with a smart talking darkspawn from architect's little group instead.

I always wanted a darkspawn ally as soon as one of them started talking. Perhaps we'll even learn more about the darkspawn's culture and find out about the true reason for the Blight instead of the story the Chantry has told everyone if we have a darkspawn in our party.

So everyone, if there's a secret companion in the upcoming game, what type of character would it be?

I very much doubt it. That said, since the DLC companion is a man, if we were getting a new companion I imagine it'd be a woman. As far as her class goes, whatever class the Prince is.

I'm betting at about the 3/4 mark the story catches up to the present moment, we bust in and break Varric out, and tell Cassandra that she either sides with us or dies, and so have the option to recruit her as a companion.

I imagine a portion of the game will also take place in the "present", so my guess is the secret companion, if there is to be one, would be Cassandra.

Just my guess. We'll have to wait and see eh?

It seems from the reviews that we will not play in the "present".

Darkspawn companion.......troubling, unless DA2 ends with Hawke and companions becoming ghouls due to the taint.

If it follows the DA:O model, any secret companion would be someone like Loghain.......and we dont really now who's going to be clashing with the Hawkieste Hawke yet in any detail.

I don't think we'll be getting one. Normally there is at least a hint of a 'secret companion' even if no further details are given, and absolutely nothing has been mentioned thus far. It would be the kind of thing they'd use as a selling point, rather than an absolute secret.

I'm not too sure if it makes a difference to me, its always nice to have an extra number on the companion counter but having it revealed or secret - meh. "But its nice to have a surprise" - to me we know very little of the companions revealed so there will be surprises within them too.

I'm betting it will be a Templar. To balance the game in terms of story. So far, only Avelines whiny husband is known to stand up to Bethany. It would add more twist to the game considering most of the game seems to be centered around the Chantry, and betting that we will be able to choose one side; mages or Templars, then having a Templar companion would go well with it. Or maybe even a Grey Warden

Doesn't Cassandra say that she needs the champions help? I think it's Cassandra.
