I asked this question awhile back with no answers.  Have tried a few things, nothing worked.

In North America w/ nothing fancy.  Have all the DLC, Awakenings in disc format, DA:O CE.

I try to import GoA character to WH, but it ALWAYS freezes right when you have to rename Dog.  The auto-save kicks in and then everything stops.

1.  My sister did it all before the last patch, no problem, except WH was glitching and she didn't get the final save.

2. I played after the patch.  Have all current patches.

3.  I deleted my first GoA save, replayed the whole level, natch.

4.  I deleted both WH and GoA and redownloaded them.  Still freezing up.

5.  I can import from Awakenings.  No problem.

What are the odds of 2 corrupt saves in a row?  IDK.  If Awakenings character works in WH, then that save shouldn't be corrupt?

Possible problems:  I have more than 120 items in my inventory?  Though when I import from Awakenings to WH, I also have more than 120 items.

Also, when I beat GoA, it didn't create a save?  I could have sworn it was supposed to?  I've been importing from my save right before I beat the boss.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

I've had the same exact problem. Neither my GoA character nor my Awakenings character can get past naming the Dog without the freeze. (If I turn off Autosave, it still freezes when I try a manual save.) And this is on the PS3, so it's obviously a deep problem and not system dependent. My Origins character CAN import into Witch Hunt without the glitch, so I tried Advanced imports of my Awakenings characters and found a save before the corruption occurred.

I guess I'll replay Awakenings from that save on, and then GoA, and then Witch Hunt. What a pain!

My problem sounds similar but not quite. I beat Witch Hunt and want to import my character to GoA but the option does NOT exist. I can only import from my Origins save. I really do not want to do that because I gained two levels and a bunch of items in the process.

Not possible because Golems takes place before Witch Hunt. It's not a bug but a conscious game mechanic made by the developers.

Not that I can help, though I recall answering something similar elsewhere a long while back, but I'm guessing there may be no solution as such. (Surely someone would have been kind enough to share it if there was one.)

rinter_degan: (1) it sounds like you have something to go on with respect to the number of items in your inventory. Perhaps you could try getting rid of some items while in Golems before importing to Witch Hunt, if you haven't already.

(2) I don't ever recall Golems having a post game save (neither does Awakening). It might not be an error, but I have seen another forum member justify this by suggesting that the end of those modules are a foregone conclusion and there are no decisions to make after the last autosaves in the respective modules.

Given that when patch 1.04 the then new 360 Slims were messed up by it. This is speculation on my part, but it wouldn't surprise me if the console itself were part of the problem. I myself have a Falcon I believe.

I've imported an Origins character to Awakening, then to Golems then to Witch Hunt with no problems.

I've also imported from Origins to Witch Hunt; no problems.

I've imported from Awakening to Golems to Witch Hunt; again no problems.

As such I believe myself to be lucky, but, as I wrote above, I suspect the model of the 360 could be a factor. If possible I would suggest seeing if you can try the game on another 360. It won't help you a great deal, but it could help to identify the problem.

Ah okay. I thought Golems was last and would be last because it says in the description that it's very challenging. Your explanation makes sense and my assumption does not, at least now it doesn't since you've explained this. Thank you for your help.
