well i made this suggestion for soldiers in another thread but it'd work for engineers too.

maybe some sort of landmine you can place down and if an enemy gets close to it then it explodes. with evolutions causing different properties, one with big fire damage and maybe one with a freezing effect? would be great against husks.

i normally dont play engineers though, im more of a biotics guy myself, but tech powers are cool so rock on my engineer brothers and sisters :D

I think taking control of enemy units just like in Arrival would be sweet.  Would they have to take AI Hacking away from the Infiltrator then, or would this be a separate ability? What would you call it? (DIRECT CONTROL!) Anyway, I think this is exactly what the Engineer needs. This would complete make up for the Engy's lack of firepower. (Taking control of Geth snipers, YMIR mechs, etc) and add a unique element to the class. On the other hand, it could be completely overpowered. My main Shepard is an Engy, and I can't help but smile when I picture assuming direct control of Geth.  I don't think it's likely though.

I would like to see a "hacking" for organics as a unique ability for engineers. Like dominate or indocrination. The engineers would be the only class to have the scientific knowledge for this ability.

I love the idea of AI Hacking. Seems remotely similar to flyable drones they had in Frontlines or the little exploding remote controlled dune buggy from Black Ops. It would be an awesome way to experience different gameplay, almost like a mini class change in-game (imagine hacking a geth sniper, you as an engineer). They could really mix it up and have the hacked AI's hud different from Shep Engy's hud, and things like that!

Personally I just hope that in ME:3 we'll face more synthetic enemies, ME:2 would have been so much better if they had been half and half, so much more AI Hacking potential!

I don't know if 50/50 would be necessary, but most encounters should have featured at least one synthetic opponent.  The Collectors should have been given a synthetic unit of their own.  Some fights mixed in mercs with mechs, but not enough to make AI Hacking useful in every mission.  Thankfully we have re-specs available.

and dominate!
