The assumption that rogues can only use bows is just that, assumption. It HAS NOT been confirmed.
The statement by a dev which did not comment on crossbows is not a confirmation. Reason stands that xbows are in game and usable byrogues.

Not quite sure why you want to use extinct reptiles, but I shall not question it. BioWare, if you do not wish this puppy to have a very unfriendly encounter with said reptiles, flaming reptiles I should add, then you may want to respond and kindly tell us that crossbows are in.

I found the crossbows in DA:O to be cumbersome. They took too long to reload, and there were far better bows to be had. Why would anyone miss that?

As you can see BioWare, your time is running out. The photoshops are becoming more and more realistic. Very soon now we won't stop with just photoshops.
