Thank you for this
I'll be using the mod linked to above for sure - when I get the game. I'll use the version of the mod that tones it down to a level that's more realistic i.e. not the blood-spurting and the blood-gushing out of the people in Ferelden when swords are poked in their NPCs pixelated selves. Maybe, this is done for comical effect? I really don't know why else Bioware would be doing this?
I do know that blood etc. is very important in the game...however people both in games and in real life aren't vessels filled with blood waiting to pour out - unless you hit a main vene or arterie.
I don't much like too much blood and gore myself; hence my use of the mod (when I get the game).
The only time the blood spurt actually made me laugh at its absurb nature was when I executed a certain person towards the end of the game. I mean, I got the back row with that spray, I was like Gallagher the executioner.
I love how idiots think that gore and violence are signs of a lack of narrative value. Looking back at arguably the two most influential pieces of literature in the Western world, the Iliad and the Odyssey, Dragon Age has nothing on it. Achilles is described, graphically I might add, killing enough people to replace the water of a river with blood. He slips on the brains, livers and hearts of his enemies. And despite the poetic meter, the description of the sizzling and popping of the eye of the cyclops is quite gross. These are probably the same people who think vulgar language is a sign a weak narrative as well.
