Infiltrator: Bonus Weapons/Powers?
#1

From what I've gathered, shotgun/neural shock and Widow/warp ammo are effective builds. However, I was wondering if you guys had any other bonus weapon/power combos that you prefer. For example, was anyone crazy enough to try slapping on an assault rifle? Or did anyone find a bonus power that makes gameplay with the Widow more exciting? Or perhaps you've found it best to forgo a bonus power and stick to what the infiltrator's already packing?
Just looking for options. I'm fairly comfortable with both sniping and CQC (on veteran, anyway--expect me to come limping back here and sobbing after pathetically crawling my way through Freedom's Progress).

If you're just getting into CQC on higher difficulties, it can help to have at least one squadmate with an area stagger (Pull Field, Concussive Blast lol, Neural Shockwave, etc) for those moments when things don't go as planned.

The Mattock is that good. Slap some Cryo on it and it's just sad how easy the missions become.

...Not tried or tested in any way, just throwing it out there.
Also, Assassin / Assassination Cloak / Squad Disruptor / Improved Cryo / Crippling Slam / Viper (abuse sniper slowdown) and Vindicator / Avenger. Cloak and shoot to strip defences, Squad disruptor renders enemies weaponless, freeze and then shatter using slam. I used this build for a while on hardcore and it's quite good, if you don't mind using biotics on an infiltrator that is.

So i would go assassin, assasin cloak, heavy incinerate, put three points into cryo and disruptor, and one in neural shock and ai hacking your pretty much good to go.

Agent, Enhanced Cloak, Area Incinerate, Enhanced AI Hack, Enhanced Dominate. Like an engineer but with ninja skillz.
Assassin Cloak with that setup for sure. With Agent it'll last long enough, and then all you really need is a bit of a damage boost.
Personally I am not a big fan of the Viper compared to the Widow. Shoot someone in the head once and they start moving around. It's probably worst with mechs, but it's generally pretty annoying. The Widow just kills them instead and you don't have to play the "guess where their head will be next" minigame.
Oh it gets even worse because the Viper also has a bit of a kick. So you have to compensate for that AND for the enemy moving around. It's just nicer to use the Widow. At least it is for me.
You can still CQC with SMGs.

That's exactly the nice thing about Viper, it requires a bit of skill.termokanden wrote...

But that's just me.
I would try to get all powers to as much damage as possible.
Assassin passive + assassin cloak + Geth shield (with +10% damage) and also inferno ammo/heavy disruptor.

Its also more forgiving than widow
So the Viper requires more skill to use than the Widow AND it's more forgiving? Perhaps you could say that the Viper is better if your aim is not great because you'll at least be doing SOME damage. But to match the Widow in effectiveness it requires a lot more adjusting to recoil/enemies moving around. Easier to use but harder to master.
Anyway it would also require more skill to rub your stomach and pat your head at the same time while controlling the mouse with your nose, but that doesn't automatically make it a better way to play the game. I like having to have good aim to get headshots, but honestly when their heads are shaking all over the place that's just irritating (LOKI Mechs always do that
That's why I like the Widow more. Obviously there's also something cool about killing enemies in one shot on insanity.

I'm just starting out, only have Mordin and Garrus. I plan to take shotgun as my bonus and will probably use the Scimitar as soon as I get it.

I prefer Slam over Neural Shock. Sadly, I don't think there's any way to make the Widow exciting.
Of course there is. You just shout at the top of your lungs "BOOM! HEADSHOT!" every time you hit someone, even if it's not a headshot.

My build was an inefficient one, but my point is that I was still able to complete the game relatively easily.
If you were going for something more efficient I'd go with either the widow or an assault rifle. The shotgun is great too and makes for an awesome CQC infiltrator, but that is also more dangerous. You can switch up your bonus power any time you want so I wouldn't worry about that too much. Though for Collector missions I recommend using the flashbang so you can use a glitch that completely prevents Harbinger from attacking. It's a cheap move, but he's a ****** anyway.

10 Squad Disruptor Ammo
10 Squad Cryo Ammo
10 Enhanced Cloak
10 Incineration Blast
0 AI Hacking
10 Agent
1 Neural Shock
This here is my favorite build. Neural Shock is awesome.
