 In ME2, I think that the single best place to use the Blackstorm gun is in Dossier: The Assassin on the bridge between the towers. Aim it at the rocket launchers up high in the back, but what's great is that it sucks up a lot of ground troops as it passes over them.

I find the grenade launcher to be the most usefull. And if memory serves me right the blackstorm only effects unprotected enemies. Which kind of makes it useless in my opinion.

I used it three times on the Assassin mission, one at the elevator, and twice on the bridge, it worked like a charm.

Imo the best use in on the Husk-infested mine mission, where it helps buy you enough time to hack all the chests before having to blow up the reaper device.

I just finished my 1st playthrought on ps3 version(the only version that I got the gun on). It absolutely rapes Shadow Broker agents during the long/annoying fight sequence (when you land on Azure and fights vs 6 cars each containing 4 agents and 1 engineer). Pop Wide Overload(takes shield of all except engineer) while they are still flying and then fire blackstorm as they land.This is on insanity it made taking all 6 cars take arround 1 minute

Blackstorm is now my fav heavy weapon, wish I had this on pc >.>

I just completed the N7 assignment MSV Strontium Mule, and brought the M-490 Blackstorm along.

 

It never fired!   Every time I fired the weapon, all I saw was an electronic 'fizzle' at the end of the barrel.

 

The enemies were Blue Suns, of course, whose shields had not yet been taken down. Is this the problem? Stats about the weapon says that it is effective against B/S/A. I've read through the info about it in masseffect.wikia.com, and I am stumped.

 

What is going on? 

 

I do not want to go through this experience in the next assignment and be left with a HW that I can't use. My other choice, as I see it, is to use the ML-100 Grenade Launcher for the big impact shot, with more HW ammo available than for the Blackstorm.

 

 

Edit:  I just read a post in another thread about the Blackstorm, that I have to press the trigger button down and hold it for a while before the projectile will fire. Is this the solution?

Yes, it's a weapon which needs to charge before firing. But it's worth it.

I'm actually pretty happy that BioWare decided to unlock this weapon for everyone in ME2 / Origin.  I bought the Collectors Edition, and had everything else but the terminus armor, the Blackstorm, and the Umbral visor (?)  Anywho, its a really cool gun.  I used it on Horizon against a Preatorian, where it did a tiny bit of damage.

 

I'm going to try it out on the derelict Reaper/IFF mission and see how Scions like it.  Scions and husks and abominations - Oh my!
