Love the trolling. Can you actually put up a decent argument against me or is every confrontation between us going to resort to ad hominem?

Yea excpet reviews can't be trusted since we know they are probably paid under the table to give it good scores? Remember Kane & Linch? exactly....

Kane and Lynch got pretty mediocre reviews for the most part, and its Metacritic averages reflect this.  I'm not sure what you're getting at here.

Edit: While I do think Metacritic is a valuable resource, I don't consider it an end-all be-all because I don't really look at reviews that way.  I do think it's useful, though, because when a game gets almost universally bad or mediocre reviews, I know that the odds of my really liking it are probably quite a bit lower than if the game got universally excellent reviews.

But, of course, I certainly disagree with critics from time to time.

You do realize the people behind Kane and Lynch paid all the major review companys to say it was good right? Thats why that Gamespot employee got fired when he said it was terrible.

Metacritic is a tool and a useful one. Same as Rotten Tomatoes, read one review and who knows what you get unless you happen to have someone you always agree with. Metacritic gives you a sense of the crowd and that logic doesn't fail me much. I don't think you blindly buy 90+. I dfon't play shooters I don't acre what score CoD gets I'm not buying it but within genres I like or with game I might think I like it is a good touch point.

I can't think of anything 90+ I've played that wasn't a good game. Oddly enough I usually for any game go to the worst reviews and read those to see what is wrong with the game long before I read the glowing reviews.

I'll sign off for the day by saying this: I hope DA 2, The Witcher 2, ME 3, Skyrim, and Deus Ex 3 all get great reviews, and deserve them.  And I hope I can find the time to give them all the attention they (hopefully) deserve.

I picked a terrible year to start grad school.  :(

Yes, I've heard of this incident, and I agree that it's a lousy practice.  My point, though, was that it didn't work out too well in the long run in Kane and Lynch's case, as the game didn't get very good reviews.

So, I hope the publisher didn't pay too much for those high scores.

If Skyrim will be poor then DAII might just be the worst game ever.

The ES games and The Witcher are fundamentally different types of CRPGs to the DA games. I love DAO. I hated/got bored with Morrowind/Oblivion/TW.

So in that respect, its good to keep in mind one's personal tastes as compared to the rest of the gaming community when looking at a site like metacritic.

He has a point, if DA2 doesn't succeed it will result in collapse of BioWare, or atleast start the chain reaction

I...I'm pretty sure mrsph was being sarcastic (I...uh, think), but more to the point: even if by some way DAII isn't successful--even though the three reviews we have right now are all glowing--how does this one "bombing" make a difference?

Or are you one of those people that likes to cover their ears and scream over the overwhelming majority of people who like ME2? Hopefully not.

PC Gamer made it editors choice, so all other reviews from sites will rate it at least 85%. Usually all websites ratings don't vary from one another

No, but (s)he's one those people that like to cover their ears and scream "The Witcher 2" ad nauseum.
