The Character Creator is like crack to me. I can't help myself. I will spend upwards of an hour creating a custom Hawke, I swear.

It's like oxygen to my daughter, she can spend hours in games that have character creation just making the perfect face............. Everything from Sims to Mass Effect to Smackdown V Raw, you don't want to be watching her play until she has finalised her character zzzzzzzzzz ;)
I'm about the same as you, around an hour, but will restart several times if the face in-game doesn't seem like the face I made, yes I am looking at you Mass Effect and ME2 <_<

when i create a custom female character i often keep the standard face, but alter the hair, (often to red), i find this allows you to give your character a bit of your own touch without spoiling the natural look.

I will change her to a elderly grandmother type so it makes scenes with her family extremely weird

Oh right I never play as a female character

I'm a sucker for chicks with long hair so I'll probably change her. MaleHawke looks exactly as I envisioned him though. Looks like a badass.

Im having a tough time deciding. I knew that from the moment I laid eyes on her and was impressed from the start. Now with the Demo making me stick with the default appearance it looks like she will be my first playthrough.

I'd love to change my FemHawke to look like I want her to, but I've never been that great with CC editors, so if I can't find something I think will really look as good as the default (or reasonably close) then I'll stick to the default with a possible hair change up. I don't mine messing with things that aren't too monumental like hair color, eye color or things like that.
It's when I go overboard and change the structure of a character's jawline, eyebrows and everything else that it all goes haywire on me. Then I spend 30+ hours staring (and cringing) at a mistake. my Hawke deserves better@!

I hear you! I usually go with presets, the only things I like to change is higher cheekbones... don' know why but I do that to all my girls in games...

Leigh Cabot, she of high Nordic cheekbones...  (a cookie too anyone who knows where Leigh Cabot is from)

Ooooh! Anders uses blood magic!!! So, the decision is kept (or else he learns it later if you didn't, but still) I"m happy that I wont have to be like "Wait where did Anders Blood Magic go?"

When there is a character creator that let's me customise my character, I'll use it, no matter how good the default looks :-)

Oh, I will. Her face is too long and too triangular. And that nose ! It needs to be shorter and a bit bigger. More cheeks ! More facial structure ! I need to fiddle with the character creator and to see what haircut I can choose. Short boyish cut ? Not too shabby, but it wouldn't suit a lady mage. Besides Bethany looks better than Hawke, and I can't have that.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm preeetty sure that's Merrill speaking.

Back on topic: Even though I love default Hawke's face, I'm most definately going to customize my own. I just love experimenting with faces and I want to feel like Hawke is my own character.

I always customize my characters, whether its a little or a lot, it doesn't really feel 'mine' if I just use exactly what somebody else already did. My characters have to be unique, thats just the way it is :) . That said, default Lady Hawke is without question the best looking female in Bioware history, and I'm sure a lot more folks than usual will just go with the default. But I will customize, even if the end result is less awesome than the default, because I must :) .

I'll probably spend a while fiddling with the character creator before giving up in disgust and taking the game back, writing it off as defective. Probably because I've been ruined by Cryptic's epicly amazingly awesome character creators. Then I'll promptly go and create a Hawke lookalike in the CC on Champion's Online or something.:wizard:

----
Lol, no. (Though I might create a lookalike.) I'll probably take around an hour to two to make my character.

You say LOL and I think you must be kidding, because... unless it's changed GREATLY since I played it, Champions character creator wasn't all that great.

It takes a lot of patience to get anything done with it. The cartoonishness of the game takes away from the visuals themselves, but the creator is actually really detailed if you go through all the options offered to you.

I think six hours in the creator is the most I spent on one character.

I generally prefer to play as a Male character and usually use the Character Creator to alter my appearance but I absolutely love the way Lady Hawke looks and sounds. My Warrior will probably still be default Male Hawke because I also like the way he looks and then Lady Hawke for my Rogue and Mage. Great job Bioware!

Gentlemen and ladies, we can rebuild her. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic woman. Champion Hawk will be that woman. Better than she was before. Better, stronger, faster.

Never thought I'd have the opportunity to reuse that after ME 2 came by and literally did it.

I'll change it. I'm done with 'default' faces.
