Vanguard is the fastest killer imho, mainly because Charging is faster than running/walking.
That, and point-blank shotgun blasts tend to do more damage per shot than any other equivalent attack.

In terms of dishing out heavy damage though, the Soldier and Infiltrator win the game, which is unsurprising.

When u empty an entire clip of mattock point blank into someones head in one heightened AR, thats some srs ass kicking.

Vanguards are good for making fights shorters by encroaching and blocking spawn points. Also for moving around fast. None of these involve tearing the enemy a new one. Vanguard is also one of the least versatile classes. Heavily gimped when enemy is out of reach.

Have you ever charged through the Derelict Collector Vessel Missions first fight using nothing but the newly acquired Claymore and Charge, taking almost no cover and zooming over the battlefield into those unfortunate buggers faces to blast them away point blank with the single, most damaging weapon per shot in the game?
That was like one big fat roaring rampage of arse ripping like you wouldn't believe, which you actually don't because otherwise you'd have the same opinion on that matter, hencewhile proving my argumentation logical and thus convert you to the religion of the brick-sh*tting brick barrel brogun aka the Claymore Fans Group (sideglance to Kronnor).

Hell soldiers/infiltrators can one shot kill YMIRs mech, even if your timing is poor you can use AR or Assassination Cloak to drop the headshot requirement. For vanguards to do the same thing they need to get in point blank range with a fully charged GPS, not even claymore is enough.

I've done it all, nope still think vanguard is one trick class which cant even handle every situation with that trick. The only real thing speaking for them is their ability to quickly get to point blank range and get the damage boost. Soldiers can use AR to get to point blank range safely or just fire in AR and get the +140 damage boost which is more than the damage boost you get in point blank range anyways.
But there is no thrill in it. And why are you still rejecting my opinion. Haven't you read my logic? I COMMAND YOU TO OBEY TO MY LOGIC! LOOOOOOOOGIIIIIIIIIC!!!
I know Soldier is the single most damaging entity in ME2, and that damage does indeed equal arse ripping in a more focused version of said definition, but arse ripping with godmode on (and AR essentially is godmode as you take ridiciously little damage and dish out even ridiciously more damage yourself) has not the same level o awesomeness like arse ripping whilst you can die in an instant if didn't charge the right foe. Every single Vanguard battle is awesomesauce, heck even if you die it was awesome.
So we have arse ripping vs awesome arse ripping. I think the latter wins.
edit://
Soldiers/Infiltrators one shot killing YMIRs? What difficulty do you play on? Is that even possible?

Reload trick was a design choice (confirmed by Bioware) and the stasis bug is why you killed faster.
It might have been a design choice, but it doesnt look any less of a bug. I mean firing straight while meleeing with the gun pointed sideways completely ignoring the recoil.

Yeah, i agree it's a cheap way to take out strong enemies really fast too but it's very fun.

Or you could also use stasis the honest way and lock the enemy in ragdoll with melees and firing in between. Still, there is something very satisfying about killing YMIRs with one headshot
That's why i never use Cain anymore

What about enemies on whom stasis doesnt work. I use it on gunships for maximum pwnage
