Pretty much the only reason I'd choose stasis over barrier as a soldier. Moreover its not a cheat if its allowed by the game. Its more or less the same as reload tricking with the claymore. I dont need the devs to tell me whats a bug and whats not.

It's an exploit  the way people are using it. I'm not going to tell you how to play the game, but I like to play games without using cheats and exploits (even if they are not the same thing).

Vanguard is the fastest killer imho, mainly because Charging is faster than running/walking.

If you are comfortable with the game, then yes.  Vanguard can punch through anything and fast.  If this is your first Insanity run and maybe your 2nd run total, it'd be a learning curve.

Stasis is an imba power if u glitch it or not. You can always lock the enemy in ragdoll with melee and shotguns. It will just take a little more time. Lets say i prefer headshotting them more.

swn32,
what did you evolve stasis into deep stasis or enhanced?
oh and did you max all of the ammo powers?
thanks

to stay on topic I would say it goes down to Vangurads and Soldiers
the difference is that
Vanguard = if you want to be an in your face character its always intense every time you charge like the
VanguardvsGethColossus by Kronner1

Soldiers = if you want to use a wide variety of weapons and have the highest health in the game

either one will take down enemies faster than any other classes with the Vanguard being faster at clearing house than soldier because of Charge

Sentinels are braindead. Pop Assault Armor and you can be Baby Cakes for the whole game.

Sentinels and vanguards are effective but they lack the firepower it takes too bunker down during heavy fighting. Just get geth shield boost with soldier, get the revenant machine gun with the Viper sniper rifle the hand cannon the scimitar shotgun and the Cain as an heavy weapon and you blow through insanity make sure too use Miranda and a powerful biotic your class is only as good as your tactics.

Why would you ever bunker down when you are playing Vanguard class (or Sentinel). The class' signature ability is designed for breaking through enemy lines.

Who's bunkering down to what now?

Neither class should really ever bunker.. unless you're a sniper sentinel maybe

I've done it all. Nope still think vanguard is one trick class which cant even handle every situation with that trick. The only real thing speaking for them is their ability to quickly get to point blank range and get the damage boost. Soldiers can use AR to get to point blank range safely or just fire in AR and get the +140 damage boost which is more than the damage boost you get in point blank range anyways.

Hell soldiers/infiltrators can one shot kill YMIRs mech, even if your timing is poor you can use AR or Assassination Cloak to drop the headshot requirement. For vanguards to do the same thing they need to get in point blank range with a fully charged GPS, not even claymore is enough.

Ok, I'm kind of noob at this game, but how exactly are you one-shotting YMIR mechs?

Enhanced stasis for the shorter duration. I didnt go past lvl1 cryo either.

Here is a list of things i checked before attemping it.
  • All sniper research upgrades (6/6 damage, Armor pen, Headshot Damage), 5/5 should be enough but im not sure.
  • Miranda's passive +15% squad damage
  • Weapon damage maximizing armor components
  • Evolve soldier passive to commando for the damage/powerdamage boosts
  • Heavy Disruptor ammo applied on the Widow so that it eats through the shields (something which snipers are weak at). Armor shouldnt be a problem as Widow has a 2.25 multiplier on armor with the upgrades
  • Stasis at lvl 3 or enhanced is sufficient. Deep stasis if you feel the duration is too short.
Hit the YMIR with stasis, point ur widow right below his neck, wait for stasis to wear out. The YMIR falls flipping his head backwards, snipe it and enjoy the fireworks.

Kronner I'm sure you know as much as I do that you can't just run and gun on insanity you just die and enemies are way hard and you can't doo much with a post, smg, and a shotgun. Everyone has there class too be insanity on but I'd say Soldier is the most logical and practical.

And strictly spoken Soldier is the only real partaker in such an evaluation, because AR is practically GodMode. There is however nothing thrilling in *slooooooowmoooooopewpewpew* *urk*.
However *SWOOOSHWHACKPLANCKK* *uaaaargh* is more ... funny, rewarding, thrilling.

I'd say the Soldier does a lot of bunkering, as they pretty much activate AR, pop out of cover and shoot, AR ends and retreat to cover, wait for cooldown to recharge and pretty much repeat.

Vanguards on the other hand are meant to charge into the thick of battle and kill quickly and effectively before the enemy has a chance to respond. As for weapon loadout shotguns are the VG's weapon of choice and all they really need, SMG's and pistols are backup for when the VG can't charge.

And yeah Vanguards can run'n'gun just look for 'Vanguard Insanity' on youtube and I'm sure you'll get results.

True vanguard is deffiently exciting too play I played that class most of all. But for a first time insanity soldier gets the job done. By the way I beat it twice first time I did it as a soldier, second time as a vanguard.

I'd go along with everyone else ... Mattock / Widow / Heightened Soldier for the win.

Note: A Vanguard will make you feel like a bad @ss if you don't die too much :)

I'm currently playing through on Hardcore as my fave class Engineer. So far very little has given me trouble. YMIR mechs are annoying cus they constantly try and get up close and personal, but now I have AI hacking that's not so much a problem anymore.

The Gunship towards the end of Samara's Eclipse Sisters infiltration mission was so ridiculously easy. I really couldn't believe I was playing on Hardcore. Spamming Incendiary Blast. Done.

I believe the "easiest" class to get through Insanity with is the long range power spamming Engineer.  Spamming explosive drones with liberal pepperings of Incendiary Blast, Overload, SMG, or Sniper Rifles as appropriate is easy.  It's not always fast but BOY is it easy to get through Insanity.

On the other hand AR Soldiers and Vanguards [when I have my mojo going] tear through levels more quickly but are harder to play and easier to get killed.

Sentinel is basically like a tank with yellow tech armor which does not drop till broken and if you max it and set as assault armor it has a big blast radius when broken and by then the armor is cooled and can be put back on as soon as it breaks off.
