Let me start off by saying that this 'discovery' was completely unintentional. Also, please not I play on XBOX so no mods. I am completely vanilla. I can't give you exact love numbers as XBOX does not reveal them. This is also not 'proven' it's just what is happening in my game and I thought I would share it.

My femal CER began romancing Alistair (waiting on Zevran to arrive) she got to the point with the rose. Then she got Zev's approval high enough to be offered the massage, which she accepted. She continued to have sex with Zev and tell Alistair she felt the same way as him when he said he felt for her.

Now, the intention originally was to trigger Zev's dialogue about where her relationship with Alistair was going if anywhere. This never happened.  Zev's approval continued to rise, but I realised that Alistairs was lower then Zev's.

Eventually she got to kissing Alistair once I realised that his approval needed to be higher. She did get jealousy dialogue from Alistair eventually and took the option "don't ask me to choose" which neted -1 only. Mistakenly I believed this would end the romance with Alistair, but it did not apparently. So instead I wanted to try and trigger Zev's 'jealousy' dialogue. At this point though Zev's rating was at it's highest, basically maxed out to where you can only get it higher after the Talisien incident.

I then tried to max out Alistair by having her have sex with him (i was waiting for his invite to sex, but this never happened so she got impatient and asked him instead being an empowered woman and all) but was non commital in the after dialogue. In a subsequent conversation when Alistair asks about what the future holds she went with the "you'll be king...we don't know what will happen...let's end this". Alistair was disappointed faced but there was no approval loss indicated and his bar is still at what I think is 91+ the same as Zevran's. Alistair is also hardened so I don't know if this makes any difference.

So basically she had two relationships and managed to get them fairly high in approval without losing much when she had to break up with one.

Additionally, I experienced the Marjolaine bug for Lelianna so she romanced the PC. When she asked PC about relationship with Zev indicating she thought they had something, after telling her not to lead Alistair on, the PC chose the "you're mistaken about us option and loss no approval. This happened before sleeping with Alistair.  So for a little bit the PC was in a romance square and didn't lose any friends when it was all straightened out

Men won't necessarily object to breaking-up with a woman as long a they can remain "friends with benefits".

But in Dragon Age if you end a relationship you can't go to the tent anymore..right?
To do it, you have to restart it.

Well, I read somewhere that Alistair (apart from his kicked puppy face)in terms of approval loses very little, or nothing.



About Lelianna I don't know if it's an exception or what, never romanced her yet.

I've run into this bug on the 360 on my first elfMage playthrough.



I could NOT duplicate when I replayed it.

Alistair can gain approval for breaking up with him. This does not necessarily happen, but there are a few instances where it does.



However, you should not have been able to talk to Zevran if both Zevran's and Alistair's romances are active -- while you can talk to Alistair, np, Zevran's jealousy dialog will start to trigger, then will cut off. While there are a few selected dialogs that will take precedence, after those are exhausted, the conversations with Zevran will end until the romance with Alistair is ended.



And, well, since the romance with Leliana is active, once she hits adore, well, she won't be happy about what you said to her about Alistair.

Ah, but I told her she was wrong about her and me after she asked about Zevran, when she said don't mislead Alistair there was no indication about her and me and that convo was before Marjolain I think.



I was surprised never to get Zev's jealousy after Kissing and Sleeping with Alistair but nothing and no approval loss and I kissed Alistair several times. I got no other jealousy dialogue from Alistair before I finally broke it off.



I wonder if it has anything to do with the levels of romance as Zev was maxed out before I kissed or slept with Alistair and since I side-stepped the Alistair jealousy a bit by just saying "don't make me choose" but still said "yes I feel for you in later conversation" and then was a bit evasive with him until the break-up.



I dunno, I just thought it was interesting as I was actually trying to get some jealousy dialogue happening from Zev. I was also trying to get the dialogues between Alistair and Zev to trigger which never happened. Today I finally got Zev asking Alistair if he was tired during making love to the warden, which was a funny and ironic since Alistair and Warden had broken up.

The way the jealousy works for a female warden:

Zevran and Alistair = Both have to be at 71+ adore.  whomever you click on will give you your jealousy dialog.  If they are the only one at 71+, you'll just get Zevran's poetry reading or Alistair's "I care for you a great deal" + swooping kiss instead of the initial jealousy conversation.  

Leliana: 51+ (care) will confront you if you either made love to Zevran or Alistair at 71+.  You can lie to her about the other romance.

then Leliana 71+ (adore) and either Alistair or Zevran at 71+ adore.  If you lied to her in the previous confrontation, she's not happy at all.  It is in this conversation that you can ask her not to make you choose (this does not happen in Alistair's confrontation).  She will still make you choose.  Once you're confronted and actually PICK someone, this in all cases but Zevran's is it.  Zevran's is bugged and the romance can be restarted, but this is most definitely is bugged.

The Alistair/Zevran banter you're talking about only has, in the vanilla game, a check for if Alsitair and the warden have made love but not if the romance is active (I fix this in ZDF).

You get the jealousy confrontations regardless of whether the personal quest is done.  All that matters is approval.

I'm pretty sure Lel is done with me now though in terms of romance. Now all I can do is ask her to tell me stories over and over.
