If we are attempting to inspire one of our companions to romance, or simply playing true to our characters pre-determined nature, should we expect that our actions will eventually cause one or more of our companions to lose?

You can keep everyone happy, but it's hard.

It depends on how pursuasive you are. It's not impossible to keep everyone around, but it won't be easy either.

Yeah it seems plausible. I also thought that I read that if you keep making decisions a teammate doens't agree with that he'll leave. Maybe even battle you?.

However the whole 'karma' principle doesn't seem that harsh. From what I understood you can just buy them presents if they aren't happy but you want to keep them.

If they die in specific quests? I don;t think so, would be lame if you favorite, 60+ hour customised companion dies.

I'd say so, since they won't agree with our behavior sometimes. I read somewhere that it will be tough to have all the party members with you throughout the game, you may lose one or two.

I don't know if they will be angry if you try to romance them, but I expect they won't.

I'm sure neutral players can keep everyone.

you should. According to a review in germany there are places or decisions you make that can lead to you loosing a NPC, and that has nothing to do with how much they like you but that a character meets an untimely end for one reason or other.

Slighty spoilerish:

If you make the wrong decisions companions may attack you (read this in an article). So I suspect companions can also leave your team.

Slightly more spoilerish:

Also I read by accident a thread before it was put into the spoiler forum (thanks again for that :( ) in there was described how one party member dies story wise. But I figured from the replies this can be avoided.

Yes.

Or you could not pick up companions that clash with you in the first place.

They did this in Mass Effect(spoilers). Ill try not to spoil it much if you havnt played it but there are points in Mass Effect where you have to chose one party member over the other, the other being killed off. It has nothing to do with how you played the game, its a must do choice in the main plot line.

It adds quite a bit to the game, as IMO fairy tell endings get extremely boring after a while. Not that I want every single party member to die off but a couple deaths makes a better story.

You know what they say about Orlesian bards who've fled the country and joined the Chantry.

The only thing I hope is avoided at ALL cost is the kind of **** we had to put up with in NWN2 with Bishop turning on you NO MATTER WHAT. That's on the same level as that **** in FF7 dieing after all the time of leveling her.

Please, PLEASE, do not have anything like this.

Edit: I should clarify. I'm fine with players turning on you or dieing permanently, but it should be a CHOICE of the PC, not something decided beforehand.
