3D came....but sorry it hasn't went away and it isn't likely too.

I find it more than laughable that anybody could think they  have grounds to object to it.....insanity

The answer is extremely simple:  They're pushing 3D as "the next big thing!" before they even bother to perfect it.

When done properly, 3D gaming and 3D films show an immense amount of potential.  I don't know if it's necessarily the "future of gaming," but it will definitely gain popularity.  The problem is that it's still a long way off from true 3D, and this has a negative impact on many people (myself included).  Sure the screen has more depth than a flat 2D image, but it doesn't feel like I'm really "looking into" the game/movie.  That's the biggest problem.

So many companies are hell-bent on throwing things OUT of the screen for 3D effect, that they ignore looking INTO the screen.  Until it becomes standard to have 3D that makes it appear you're looking into a world rather than having it thrown at you, I'm not going to be all that interested.

Also, I refuse to wear those damn glasses.

Back to topic:
I fully agree with OP. 3D is awesome and it's not expensive. I have migraine myself and suffer from intense headaches with foggy vision and I'm extremely sensitive to brightness and noises when it happens but playing in 3D is no issue at all. And I'm sitting in front of my PC all day long, playing at least five, six hours a day.

And is that with or without 3D glasses?
Personally I think 3D can show a lot of potential, sure. But it is just a minority right now and spending their resources on that is a waste in comparison to what they could do with it instead.

this is the same troll who made the topic in mass effect boards about thermal clips. got 10 pages of replies then changed the topic title to 'post if you want 3d in mass effect 3'. the guy is an epic troll obsessed with 3d.

JeanLuc the technology is already with us...it's effect is already implemented into our gaming.

Psuedo 3D has already came a long way since Wolfenstein 3D my friend.

I don't think the OP is trying to say we should all be viewing our monitors in those naff glasses.He/she is talking about technology already available.

That's not quite what I was referring to.  I understand the technology has improved (even movies like Avatar have proven this), but I've yet to see an implementation of it that involves looking into the image, rather than having the image come out of the screen.

Between that and the glasses, I'm just not all that fond of it yet.  I see the potential, I'm just waiting for it to be perfected.

Honestly, no one knows if 3D will go away this time. I find it likely, but we don't know. If the technology improves it might stay. I do think that some form of 3D is going to be commonplace in the future, but who knows how long it will be before that happens.

For now... the OP and others like him are like Mac gamers in past years. Support for them by game companies will be sporadic if it exists at all. Mac users dealt with not being able to get games for years. Then they would get games, but not for months or more after release once the game was ported. Only recently have games started being released for them at the same time (like DA2).

The good thing is, not supporting 3D doesn't mean you can't play and enjoy the game..

Stereo 3D is not a gimmick, anyone who says so is very ignorant. It's an amazing experience to play your favorite games in 3D.

It's 2011 and I can't believe Bioware isn't on board yet.

Dragon Age II Stereo 3D problems:

- 2D Mouse Cursor

All you had to do was give us a 3D mouse cursor, world of warcraft did it. Blizzard is a huge company and so is Bioware. You guys should have the resources to do this.

It's such a simple thing. PLEASE make sure Dragon Age 2 is compatible with NVIDIA 3D Vision.

Thanks.

What is your address? I am going to come and punch you, 3D is NOT welcome in my games. At least Todd Howard has made his stance very clear that Bethesda will NOT be using the 3D gimmick. It is pathetic, leave it in the cinema.

I see....I don't think having an image pop out at you in gaming  is very plausible atm.Certainly don't see any demand for it.The implementation of pseudo 3D looking into the image is very good

I didn't interpret the OP has calling for that kind of viewing.

3D is cool and it does look good. But it works with games that are mainly concentrated on graphics. Dragon Age is not all about graphics and I don't think it would make the game better in any way.

Another thing is that your attitude shows you are a moron or troll OP if not because you go on randomly telling people that they are lesser beings lower in evolutoin, then for the sole reason you are asking for features when the game is gold and ready for selling.

Also, 3D looks good but is not a "shock"... maybee you just wet your pands easily over things other people just consider nice.

Have you played Dragon Age using NVIDIA 3D vision? if you did, you'd know it looks awesome.

You can try, I will break both your arms then sit you down in my chair and put on the 3D glasses for you. Then I will play Dragon Age in 3D and you'll love it. Then you'll thank me. :)  (This is a joke btw..lol)

It's been a gimmick since it's invention in 1839 and and always will be. Only thing to wait for is the perfecting of holographic rendering/ viewing.

Until then, I just want my porn in 3d

I've cracked it.

Ask Bioware to compile the game split screen with two images ...flatten a cornflake box and paint it with black poster paint...cellotape one edge to your monitor the other to your face.

Hey presto pop out 3D. :)

Have you played Mass Effect One with NVIDIA 3D Vision?

Have you played Black Ops with NVIDIA 3D Vision?

.. The answer to your last question is "yes" there is.

Have you even tried Dragon Age in NVIDIA 3D Vision?

It looks sooo beautiful. The only problem is the mouse cursor is 2D.

I wish I could show you how beautiful Dragon Age is in Stereo 3D.

All of the technology (yes, I have tried them all at conferences) gives me a headache.  It is because I am colorblind in the way that screws with 3D technology.  And I am not alone on this.

Also, remember that 3D technology seriously screws with framerate.  The engine is literally rendering the scene from multiple angles to give the 3D effect.  On the new glasses-free TVs, you have to render it nine times per frame.  Less time for important RPG things, like AI.

Unless there is a gameplay reason to have 3D, I am not going to put up with that.  I have seen good arguments in first person.  3D gives you a better sense of spatial awareness to your body, separating the near things from the far things.  However, if I have an avatar on the screen, it just does not matter for me.

This goes even doubly so when I am managing multiple avatars on different locations on the screen, like Dragon Age.

You're stuck in 2009.

Welcome to 2011.

1. The reason you have a headache is because your mind is over stimulated. You're not used to processing depth in your games.  After three weeks you'll make the adjustment and you'll never want to look at flat 2D again.

2. Framerates, I have a GTX 470 and I 've never had a problem with framerates in 3D.  If yOu have a old video card then yes.  I play Dragon Age in 3D and it runs at 60 fps in 3D.  Not sure what you're talking about.  You're probably over 30 and getting old, not wanting to embrace new tech. I'm over thirty too but I always adapt.

3. The gameplay reason is to see Leliana in full beautiful 3D and see every one of her features while talking with her.  Another gameplay reason is to feel the depth of a fireball as it's hurled towards your team.

Depth & convergence can enhance gameplay once you've made the adjustment.  I still get 1st place in Call of Duty Black Ops with 3D. It helps a lot seeing people in the distance.

All your points have been countered.  It's 2011, not 2009.

Why would a demo be in 3D?

Until glasses arent necessary, 3D will never reach popularity but still, gaming in 3D isn't a big deal unless its like simulator

I wasn't aware that I said there wasn't anything...... Infact I din't even ask a question lol

But no, using 3d glasses is not holographic viewing. When a screen is able to project a full 3d image without a 2d screen, superimposing other 2d images and using optical ware then i'll be excited about actuall holographic viewing.

They are working on it, but probably won't be anywhere near good for another 50+ years.
