So I don't buy "immersion" (but to be fair, people use "immersion" as a synonym for "I like it and feel quantifying it objectively will strengthen my case" around here more often than not, so I'm sensitive).
Dragon Age 3D Screenshot, no 3D glasses required. In hopes of DA2 being 3D ready.

3D will not take hold until they can find a way cheaply that does not require wearing glasses, I wear normal glasses, I don't need an extra pair over the top of them thanks.
Also the reason some people suffer migraines and other problems is because the eyes are being fooled into believing that depth exists, the eyes try to adjust focus for near or far when there is in fact no depth.
One of the best 3D effects I've seen so far used a motion detector to adjust depth aspect of an image, this did not require glasses, someone demonstrated it on youtube, I cannot presently find the link.
Although I do not understand your glasses argument ,as I also wear them, I agree that playing a longer time with 3d can get annoying.
But this is similar to the effect of getting new glasses: it is just at the beginning and only after playing for a long time (~4 hours)
Your motion detector thing sounds fascinating but for me is a total different thing.
3d for me just makes the game a little bit more intensive.
TO sum up: For me it is like the difference between playing with standart sound boxes and good 5.1 headphones.

Sadly it's old compared to whats coming out now, it uses IR and USB for the glasses and based off 1990 tech and while it was great in 2008 it's now 2011 and LCD's and game consoles are coming out with 3D that requires no glasses or external hardware.
I'm never impressed by 3D with glasses, it's old tech and I have seen first hand better in a simple hand held game console.

This coming from a guy who stares at a flat 2D image. It's not natural to stare at 2D images, eyes were meant to view objects with depth & convergence. You guys can't be this ignorant. It's scary.

But we sure have been doing it for such a long time.

Once again, ignorance reigns supreme when it comes to 3D knowledge.
Nintendo 3DS is a very small screen and it costs $249.00 ....
To have a proper 3D experience you need at least a 22 inch monitor. Doing the math, a 3D screen without glasses would be VERY expensive. Then you have to calculate development costs on top of that. You won't see this solution for at least 5 years.
Now mind you, unlike you guys i'm not going to hate. I'm looking forward to getting a nintendo 3dS! And i'll be one of the first people to buy the 3D no glasses screen when it comes out. I know full well the no glasses experience will be better, but in 5 years? What do I do until then? Stare at a flat 2D image when I game? no thanks.
But let's stay on topic.

3D was the future 60 years ago. It has advanced so far that the glasses look better now, if you shell out the extra dollar.
3D will NEVER be a good thing, no matter how hard the film industry tries to push it. It's simply a cheap trick to make the brain work harder to view the same thing in a different way. It's also not actually '3D,' it is still two-dimensional. It simply creates an illusion which appears to be three-dimensional, which is why it strains your eyes to actually view it.
The only 'true' three-dimensional technology will come with a type of holographic projection system, most likely through some form of crystal.

I meant it in a ironic way, I am a pc gamer from the start (+a little bit ps3 here and then) that is way nintendo (games) really isn't doing it for me ^^
But actually I do not understand your problem, dragon age worked fine so who said da2 won't?

In their eyes (doyouseewhatididthere), 3D is marvelous because it's harder to pirate. The classical "camera under a jumper" technique of acquiring copies of the film doesn't work with 3D, so they'll continue to use it whether it helps the audience or not.Killroyomega wrote...

Dragon Age II demo is not 3D ready, i'm worried. There isn't a 3D mouse cursor. Big companies like Blizzard have incorporated a 3D mouse cursor for World of Warcraft and I hope Bioware does the same for their games.
I want you guys to enjoy the beauty of 3D for Dragon Age & Dragon Age II.
Here is a 3D screenshot I took and uploaded so you guys can see how Dragon Age looks in 3D.
1. Open up this link in a new window: oi53.tinypic.com/2rmsgwi.jpg
2. Then cross your eyes until you see THREE images, then focus your eyes on the middle image.
You'll see Dragon Age with a 3D effect.
(Note: With 3D glasses there is no discomfort like crossing your eyes).
Here is a tutorial that explains how to do it more precisely: www.neilcreek.com/blog/2008/02/28/how-to-see-3d-photos/
It takes practice.
(I know this is Dragon Age II discussion topic, but I'm posing this hoping devs and producers will see it and make Dragon Age II stereo compatible. Unreal Engine supports stereoscopic 3D, there is no reason why any upcoming EA/bioware title shouldn't be 3d ready).
You know that helm gives subpar dps right?

You say that a 3D effect is natural, but how exactly is forcing a 3D perspective on a flat 2D object natural?
