You do realize that 3D viewing has health risks right? Look up binocular dysphoria. Repeated use could cause long term blindness. Don't call us ignorant. We want to keep our sight.

Panasonic has announced testers who have been exposed to roughly 10,000 hours of 3D with no problems reported what so ever. I have never experienced what you're talking about. I'll you one thing though, life is all about risk vs reward.  The more you risk, the more you'll get out of life. Don't be a pansy :)

I have 20/20 vision and have been using 3D for a LONG time.

I just realised why you make so many identical threads about 3D - it's so you can cross your eyes and make all the threads merge so they're in 3D, isn't it?

You actually bring up a good point.  I can't wait until the browser is in 3D, this will let me manage multiple windows more efficiently. I embrace the future, i'm not afraid of it like most of the responses in this thread.

Dragon Age is a beautiful game that deserves stereoscopic respect.

It's a beautiful game? Have you played it? If so, register the game to your profile.

Cause quite frankly, this whole thread smells like it's one big sales pitch.

I've seen this, it's amazing ;)

I'd buy this tech if it were available.  Then I'd be on this forum requesting Dragon Age support for it. :P

Oh god, it's not going to damage your eyes dude.  I've been doing this technique for the past 15 years. I'm over thirty and have twenty twenty vision.

Well thanks mr high and might with his fancy twenty twenty vision. You should put a health warning on your post, somthing like "People with twenty twenty vision only all people without are inferior humans and are unable to look at this without pain and suffering"

3D requires an adjustment period. It takes roughly three weeks for your eyes to adapt to 3D from the inferior 2D images you've been looking at all your life.

Inferior 2d that I have been looking at my whole life? Yeah because this room i am sitting in is realy 2d
Also you havnt appoligised for the pain your link is causing me

maybe right that they used it of trying to stop leaching, although one could find avatar in 3d from the very beginning

It was the difficulty in pirating Avatar that sold them on the idea, which is why shortly after they started glueing it onto films that had been made without, with unfortunate effect. Avatar itself was 3D simply because of the producers technological interest in it.

Derax wrote...
It is a pop-up effect but enhanced so you can't really compare it to a " same strange pop-up book look

I'm not sure what that means. It's the unnatural edge to things, combined with obviously flat textures (like the ground in that picture) that makes elements look isolated, as in a pop up book rather than as a single cohesive view. Not that I'm saying 3D looks like that mind, just the crossy eyey thing, I was asking if they had the same "issue" (as I say, I don't think it's any better or worse, just different).

Sry I am not English I cannot explain it better :pinched:

What I can say is that the original concept is that of an pop up book  just like in the cinema  but in that  way better that you do not find it misplaced ;)

--> In contrast: When I watched Avatar 3d in the cinema I sometimes thought: pls let me watch it in 2d ^^

Yeah, I have to agree it's usage is very different to cinema. In a game you're actively engaged with the space, you interact with the dimension it creates.

I dunno man, the technology is not perfected yet, so I'm not willing to take the plunge. Maybe later, but not now. It might take 30 years, but permanent blindness is a very large risk to take. Regular 2d monitors may damage your sight but it doesn't cause permanent blindness. Also, what are people wearing glasses supposed to do? Are there special 3d lenses that they can put on their glasses?

You say life is about risk vs reward, but the problem is, the reward isn't even that great. Sure we can see in 3d, but the fact is in 10-20 years, you could suffer permanent blindness. These side-effects always take years to manifest anyway. 10,000 hours of 3d doesn't prove anything. That is only about 1 year and a half. I am perfectly happy with 2d technology right now, but I am willing to jump on to 3d once I see much improvement on it such as no-glasses technology and the mass public is using it. There are reasons people are skeptical about it.

I just don't appreciate you calling people ignorant just because they don't use 3D for their gaming. Honestly, its a luxury it doesn't even rank high in priorities for life. I'm sure people aren't happy about the fact either. Its like a creationist forcing his ideas on people because he thinks hes right, despite all the evidence pointing against him, no offense to creationists in these forums :S.

Until all porn is fully 3D the adjustment period will be indefinite anyway.

If u want people to buy your product, start there.

That is the whole reason I like the 3d option: In my opinion it already is feeling like this^_^

I could however understand  not to buy it because of the price: in fact i have only bought it because it was included in my newest laptop and the laptop was a good bargain.

Unfortunately this is probably true due to the way the camera works in the game, but I like the idea where you could be hiding around some corner and just move your head to peer around that corner, that's something that 3D glasses cannot do.

It would be a lot of work to be able to play a video game like that. Next Gene wouldn't even have that, probably

Are you the same guy who used to constantly go on about 3d on the mass effect boards. You and about 3 other people actually want 3D. no one cares.

Hey, take it easy one him. It's bad enough for the guy that he wasted all that money on a graphics card with an utterly useless gimmick feature.

This coming from a guy who stares at a flat 2D image.  It's not natural to stare at 2D images, eyes were meant to view objects with depth & convergence.  You guys can't be this ignorant. It's scary.

Considering that 3D technology has been around for almost 60+ years and no one has yet figured out to make it last with any kind of long term profitably. The only reason Hollywood thinks it will work this time is because of the IMAX 3D when a few big blockbusters fail in 3D this fad will die again.

* Eventually all monitors will support 120hz, it will be common place in peoples home.

* Unreal Engine has stereoscopic 3D built in now.

* The price of glasses will continue to drop.

* NVIDIA updates profiles for every game that comes out.

If you read my topic you'd know that I mentioned nothing of TV's.  3DTV's are complete ****, but NVIDIA 3D Vision for the PC is amazing.

First off not everyone here is a PC gamer, I'm not. I don't have the money to buy a new video card (or a new PC) and if I choose between a 3D set up or food, food wins everytime.

Second I hate 3D glasses with a passion. I have to wear glasses all the time and I hate wearing 2 sets of glasses.

Third I don't care if you were talking about 3DTV or Nivida 3D video card. If the past shows anything it shows that 3D doesn't last. It's a fad it was a fad in the 1950s, 1980s, and it's still a fad today,

The 3D vision kit is nice and all, but it's an enthusiast's purchase and nothing more. It's incapable of being usable by most of the PC gaming community. It also has a hefty price tag to be able to utilize it.

Also, I saw somewhere in this thread someone mentioned that the 3D has diminished brightness because it renders light properly or something. Hogwash. The reduced brightness is due to the fact that in order to create the stereoscopic vision effects, the lenses need to be polarized. The polarized lenses only allow a certain amount of light through (rather than all of it). So less light getting through = less brightness. If you are going to champion a product, it usually helps to know how it actually works. Just saying.

Oh, and I'm sure the 3d vision kit will have decent functionality with Dragon Age 2. It did with DA:O. There's only been like 3 games made that actually were built from the ground up to utilize it (Batman: Arkahm Asylum and CoD: Black Ops come to mind right now). And it'll be a long time if ever that 3d technology becomes mainstream gaming technology.
