That's the thing; you won't. Hence the speculation that Arrival might conclude ME2 for good.

Yes, but that doesn't mean people would play it.  Hell they could make the DLC free, and still some people would play ME 2 without this DLC.  I don't see them making such an important event like Shep getting captured and starting the new game without his squad or anything on a DLC: it's like if they had the Normandy getting attacked by Collectors as DLC for ME 1 and ME 2 just started with Shephard in the Cerberus base.  People would be completely confused.

Plus because of the nature of the story, with choices, they have to be prepared for anything that happens in the DLC to have NOT HAPPENED when people start ME3.

i dont think it will be shep thats the sacrifice doesnt make sense the arcturus station would be a good sacrifice my favorite althought doubt it will happen sol relay is locked by the reapers or destroyed

The Sol relay being somehow cut off from the network would be interesting, but it would be major enough that I doubt it's in DLC. If it happens it will be in ME3.

but if its locked the normandy can still use it cause they have the reaper iff and if you throw in the teaser trailer it would make sense as to why no ships are in orbit

She could still be the new Shadow Broker, just Shepard won't have helped her become the SB.  That can be accomplished without Shepard being involved.

It would be kind of hard, however, for Shepard to be captured without Shepard being involved...

The other option, of course, is to simply have ME3 check if you did the DLC, and if you didn't it could present the events in a cutscene as part of the intro so you know wtf is going on.

*Edit* - It's also possible that Liara *won't* be the new SB for people who didn't play LotSB.

I had a theory what this ultimate sacrifice might be and before I begin Spoilers ahead its similar to Dragon Age when you must choose whether to use the Anvil Of The Void or destroy it, there is this artifact in ME: Evolution called the Arch of Monolith that seems to transform organics into diesel badasses im thinking that maybe this artifact (perhaps the Object of Rho) is part of the Ultimate Sacrifice either use it by sacrificing ppl to make shock troops against the reapers or destroy it

I don't think they'll do that.  I don't think they'll put anything in the DLC that will make people feel like they missed out on a chunk of the main story.

It's they're problem for not getting them. Are we supposed to abandon Liara as the new SB? Hell no! Same goes here. Shepard gets captured in the DLC and we get a cliffhanger connecting to ME3.

I also don't think they'll do something big in a DLC, but if they do, it wouldn't be hard to explain what happened.

For all we know, the devs made this thread to see what people wanted from the DLC. And my idea is the top of the ranking board right now.

Gotta be honest, Pwn, it's probably a little late in the game for the Devs to be changing the DLC right now. I'd imagine we're going to get a release sometime in the near future, and that's not usually the time devs start saying "Okay, now let's take it to the fans and see how they wanna change it."



I'm reasonably certain that the plotline for the DLC is already set in stone.
