I actually suspected something like this would happen today as today is the date mentioned in the 01/06/2186 CDN post and just so happens to be the two year anniversary of the Legion Teaser for ME2.

With Shepard getting kill then brought back to life and everyone turning your back on you because they suddenly caught the "Too stupid to reason" disease. Cheaply killing off characters and invalidating player choices are as much a part of Mass Effect as guns and biotics.

First off I love the the OP, full on romantic love. Secondly, can you even imagine the chaos and destruction going on at Bioware and SOE right now?:

• ** Bob walks back into the office after a long lunch**
• ** Bob sees the office is torn assunder, blood splatter on the walls and floor, papers everywhere, computers sparking and on fire, men and women running around aimlessly screaming or whimpering**
• ** Bob Grabs his coworker Sue as she runs for the light from the door he just opened, she is covered in blood, her clothers are torn and her hair is a mess** 

Bob: "Sue what happened here?"
Sue: "Horror... oh... the horror.." *Sobs loudly*
Bob: "Snap out of it," *shakes Sue* "it can't be all that bad! What happened?"
Sue: :"..........................." *Gentle sobbing*
Bob: "You've got to tell me whats going on, maybe I can help"

Ya know, given that we likely wouldn't see this DLC appear for a while, it can actually bracket the time frame for ME3 VO recording. Which means there's a good chance we could get speaking squadmates!

Right. And I read one thing online where you said love interests in the game are not recruitable for this mission. Why is that?

The Mass Effect 1 love interests aren't. So that's Liara, Kaiden and Ashley. They're in the story but they don't join the team for that reason. Some people are worried that we don't care about those characters, but it's actually the opposite. We care about them so much that we want to make sure they survive this suicide mission.

 
that doesn't really mean anything. Just that they didn't want them to die in the suicide mission. They may have been saving them for this bridging dlc. I think it would be great if the VS show up in this and get killed. Makes it more emotional, more powerful and gets Shep in the mood for some vengence for 3. In my opinion Shepard hasn't lost enough. Another rekindling LI mission would be kind of boring. And it would be stupid to introduce this Doc lady just to kill her off.

Nope. Shepard does the final part solo, hence the slealth throphy and then the SR2 with all hands on board gets blow to bits by the Reapers.

Yeah. Honestly, I'd get really pissed if something like that happens. One sure death is enough for this series. I little piece of me dies everytime I watch my buddy trying to get his whole squad killed in the suicide mission...Mordin's last words broke my heart..

They won't kill everyone off, simply because you can't keep Shepard alive without two crew members. Unless for some reason the game saves, and then reverts time back to play in some sort of limbo save-state. But that doesn't seem to be how ME2 is rolling.

as for the DLC itself...the name suggests that the invasion starts, but that would mean the player would have to do the other missions, especially the main story first. I can't see it happen before the suicide mission.

On the other hand...maybe it just means arrival of the VS on board the Normandy. Ultimate Sacrifice meaning the VS "giving up" the Alliance which would be a pretty big sacrifice for the VS. (probably way off  there^^)

I thought about this too.  Cutting ties with the Alliance perhaps?  That would be a big deal.  But isn't the "ultimate sacrifice" pretty universally accepted as sacrificing a life?

Well yeah, but considering the level of loyalty the VS has to the Alliance I think it could be considered their life - not literally, though - but I think it would be fitting. Of course this would also mean they should have a pretty good reason for it. Not just Shepard saying, you're done here, come with me. It would have to fit the character.

And I would think finding out the Alliance has ties to Cerberus would make that decision much easier.  I feel like the VS would feel betrayed by everything they knew.  Again this is just speculation, but personally I think that would be a pretty big thing.  There's nothing to imply that this "sacrifice" is Shepard's sacrifice at all.

not like we haven't had other npc's introduced only to have them killed off, oh wait.  I do hope that you are wrong about killing of VS.  Having Liara as the only LI with unshakable plot armor would suck beyond measure and for me, at least would greatly diminish my beleif in bioware as a quality game maker.  with other LI's at least you have a say.

Its only "boring" if Kaidan and Ash weren't characters that your Shepard could identify with--in either a friendship or LI capacity.  For those of use that are big fans of the characters, getting similar resolutions/treatments of reunion with Kaidan or Ash would be exciting and very satisfying.  We REALLY need it after the heartbreak that was Horizon.

There is no way Bioware didn't intentionally place this. Almost 6 months of a dead stalemate, its about time.
