I believe Arrival only pertains as to what leads up to ME3, so Earth isn't the "sacrifice". I believe it probably has more to do with Arcturus Station. Call it a hunch. But as to the "sacrifice" itself, that's anyone's guess. Most likely a person. I don't think we are going to lose the SR2, at least not yet.

Agreed. That's too big of an arc in a DLC

It's still pretty possible; they could make the mission accessible only after completing the ME2's 'final mission'. And for those who play didn't play the DLC, but pick up ME3, tough luck. Most fans are set out to get the dlc already, and newcomers won't even know what's going on anyways.

EDIT: sacrificing Arcturus Station makes more sense

They could have a part where Shepard can sacrifice himself, causing the cheevo to unlock. This would be a non-importable playthrough decision.



Though it's highly unlikely that this is true. My suspicion remains that it has something nefarious to do with Ash/Kaidan.

I'll bank on "Arrival" centering around the arrival of the Reapers. We'll probably witness/learn how they get to the galaxy by the end of it. This will probably lead into ME3. I hope the VS shows up in a more positive way, too.

Ultimate Sacrifice is for completing the DLC, not for making a specific choice. The only major characters that are going to die in a DLC episode are character introduced in that episode. The odds are in favor of Dr. Kenson making a sacrifice to delay the "arrival" for just a bit longer.

Oh and by the way guys, the 'Ultimate Sacrifice' is not a choice, it's the achievement that you unlock by finishing the DLC.
