Surviving all 5 waves reminds me too much of Gears Horde mode but I'll save judgment until we get more news and I hope it's soon. Tis out in the open now.

I don't think they'll kill off Shepard in a DLC...but I do still think it sounds intriguing whatever it may be.

As long as "The Ultimate Sacrifice," DOES NOT MEAN sacrificing Kaidan, Ashley or Shepard, I will be happy.

Well we know Dr. Amanda Kenson was the one who discovered the true age of the Mass Relays and is looking into who built them. That coupled with the name, and that this is likely the last story-DLC can only really mean one thing...
My guess is she ends up dying in some way at the end to stop the Reapers arriving immediately? Hence the achievement for finishing it.
That said, I can actually see it being the Virmire Survivor, just to get them out of the way for ME3. It'd suck, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility...

As long as we can still get an Alternate Appearance Pack 3 (For Mordin, Samara and Jacob) and at least one more weapon pack (hope it's an SMG, Pistol and Sniper Rifle). i'd hate for a final DLC to come out and then we won't ever get any more of the small packs anymore.

I sincerely doubt that Ashley or Kaidan will be the ones to sacrifice themselves at the end of this DLC, considering the fact that, like Liara, they maintain heavy-duty plot armour for their future role in ME3.
As others have said, it could be that this Dr. Amanda Kenson will be the one to perish, and that her sacrifice slows the advancing Reaper fleet.
