if its one person - its 60 dollars less profit.  if its 2 people its 120 dollars less. if its 10 people - its 600 dollars less.  if its 700 or more VS fans, thats 42000 dollars less in profits.  still think the sales are not affected?

one person might seem like a drop in a bucket, untill you get enough drops to fill said bucket.  now, I will not claim that  all the VS fans will refuse to buy the game, I cannot speak for everyone.  but...do not discount it as a possibility

An option from the main menu whereby only valid "mission complete" save files can be selected to play the DLC?

If it will be story that can be played ONLY after suicide mission, then maybe there will be answer to which squadmates will stay and which leave.

There's no telling. The ME3 trailer and the 'Ultimate Sacrifice' achievement seem to suggest something pretty dramatic will have to take place before the start of ME3.. aww man now I joined in on the speculation. Won't be getting much sleep between now and the announcement release of this DLC

True, I'm almost certain that the human who died in ME1 (Kaiden or Ashley), will NOT be in arrival... They'll be stuck in customs^_^

But then you could go play memories, overlord, and lotsb after watching the earth burn, like nothing happened? eh... that would be awkward. I guess they could make you have to load a previous save game to play those.

That would really make it feel like it was the first chapter to ME3 then instead of just an ME2 DLC. Don't get me wrong, I would be thrilled but not sure I can see bioware doing it.
