The gist of the latest info posted earlier on this thread:

All this is from this link

DISCLAIMER: No assurances here that any of this isn’t garbage. This is simply a boildown of the most solid bits from the Destrutoid link. It is notable, IMO, that no other game media site has posted this info despite the fact that Destructoid says where it was found and how to get at it.

Notable maybe, but regardless, the info is genuine.  It's easy to check by dumping the tlk files on the PC.  The thing about the choice between investigating the shipwreck and some Batarian vessel found in another file, however, is almost certainly meaningless.  That stuff is in a lot of the DLC tlk files, including stuff like the Inferno Armor and Zaeed that's been available since release, and it's pretty clearly some random scenario they used for testing at some point.  There's also a lot of other cruft that appears regularly in the tlk files (for instance, a bunch of journal strings from the outcome of Tali's loyalty mission tends to get repeated multiple times in every single tlk file, main game included).

Talking about pricing.

If "Arrival" provides 6-10 hours of high quality game-play, would you be willing to pay 1200 MS/Bioware Points?

I should have referred to your earlier post on this in my last sum-up, didymos1120. That was strong work you did.

So you've seen these files and can confirm Destructoid's report? Did you provide them with that information?

Assuming didymos1120 or others confirm that data referred to by Destructoid is legit, that makes the last three reports from Cerberus Daily News very interesting.

I think we should "temper our expectations" I don't think there is any possibility this DLC will come anywhere near 6 - 10 hours. This is DLC which will be under 2gbs and at most will give us between 1 - 2 hours of gameplay.  I would be surprised if it costs any more than 800 MS/BW points.

DA: Awakening doesn't count? It was bib enought to be sold on a DvD, but it was nothing more than a big DlC, or a small expanction pack if you prefer. Considered that Arrival should be the last one ME2 content who says that it won't be... massive? BW knows that the effort would be repayed... ME it's a quite safe investment for they.

Well that certainly brings me back to the day before the first ME 2 trailer got released.
back then Chris said something similar like 'You will hear about ME2 in the near future" which made it sound like it  was still several months away. Next day: BOOM

Kinda similar thing here. The comming weeks basically start tomorrow or next monday depending on how you interpret that sentence, so I still consider everything possible regarding an update on the new DLC...

PS:
And who the hell are they kidding? Nothing that leaks in the gaming industry nowadays was actually leaked unintentionally. Just look at how this topic deveoloped. It's a marketing guys wet dream!

Lol, no way, I've received a 10 euro EA store discount code, Dead Space and MIrror's Edge is 10 euros and so is 800 BioWare points.

I'm so glad DLC pricing follows the game market. :wizard:

Yeah, that planet text is in the AAP2 tlk file.

Did you provide them with that information?

No, wasn't me.  Anyone with the PC version can do this pretty easily.  Just grab the ME2 TLK Tool (a project hosted right here on the BSN) and dump all the tlk files in the ME2 directory tree to xml, then read at your leisure.  Beware: the main game file will be quite massive.

EDIT:  BTW, Destructoid seems to have misunderstood something about the way files get dumped.  They seem to think only Male Shep dialogue is in them.  Not true.  There are some XML comments about where FemShep dialogue starts that appear in the dumped XML files, but, well, they're wrong.  For one thing, most of the dialogue strings (which are really just the subtitles) apply to either sex because the dialogue is mostly identical for both.  But even so, the FemShep-unique strings that do exist appear mixed in with all the rest.

Yeah I just checked and all the stuff stated in the destructoid story is true. All the language tree stuff and planet descriptions are in the TLK files that came with the latest appearance pack.

"THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE"

Im very curious about this one. I wonder what the final choice in ME2 will be. Sacrifice can mean anything in ME.

Thanks for the quick confirmation, didymos1120.
And thanks to charmingcharlie for more verification.

Now doesn't that make the last three items from Cerberus Daily News more interesting. (Others have posted this stuff before. It's repeated here so people checking on the thread can see it without scrolling back. Also, these entries from Cerberus Daily is from the Mass Effect Wiki at masseffect.wikia.com) Emphasis added:

01/22/2011 - Batarian and Alliance Forces in Standoff in Skyllian Verge

“The galaxy is on high alert as starships belonging to the Earth Systems Alliance and Batarian Hegemony refuse to back down from a confrontation in the Skyllian Verge. The encounter began when a frigate from the batarian colony of Aratoht discovered an Alliance cruiser, the SSV Budapest, on patrol in the Bahak system. The Alliance claims the Budapest was chasing a pirate fleet that has been harassing human colonies in the Skyllian Verge, and that it was fully within its rights to travel through Bahak's space. The Batarian Hegemony has demanded the Alliance's immediate withdrawal from their colony's system. Three batarian cruisers stationed on Aratoht are now on their way to join the confrontation.”

01/23/2011 - SSV Budapest Retreats from Batarian Space

“The Alliance cruiser that sparked a standoff between the Earth Systems Alliance and Batarian Hegemony has retreated from the Bahak system. Hegemony officials claim to have found no trace of the pirate fleet the Alliance was allegedly pursuing when the SSV Budapest flew into the system. The Alliance maintains it was chasing pirates raiding human merchant vessels when it crossed into batarian space, but refuses to release any of its ships' logs. Despite this, Citadel observers say the Alliance's withdrawal has done enough to ease tensions. “The Hegemony knows the Alliance is attempting to save face,” said one anonymous Citadel diplomat. “At this juncture, the humans' retreat from Aratoht [in the Bahak system] has gone from a diplomatic crisis to an embarrassment they want swept under the rug.”

01/24/2011 - Paper Suggests Mass Relays Predate Protheans

“Historians and astronomers alike are abuzz tonight over a new paper published by Dr. Amanda Kenson of the University of Arcturus. Her team claims that by testing the dust trapped in the gravity wells around a mass relay, and comparing its composition to that of dust clouds in the same system, scientists can create a timeline of when the relay passed through the dust. Her conclusion? “Only a small fraction of the mass effect relays date back 50,000 years,” she writes, “The majority are far older, indicating they were created by a species predating even the Protheans.” Dr. Aurana T'Meles of the University of Serrice met the information with skepticism: “While Dr. Kenson's methods appear sound, the asari tried a similar procedure centuries ago and discounted it. What civilization could have spanned the galaxy for not thousands, but millions of years? If this were the case, we should have found mountains of evidence of their passing. Where is this species now?”

I am actually a bit disappointed in this respose. Only because I was hoping bioware would be adaptive about this massive leak and give us a little more to go on,

This is more the respoinse of:
Cris: "We had a massive leak thats giving us lots of free publicity!"
Bioware: "Yay!"
Bioware Publicist: "But its not part of are press rollout..."
Chris: "Ok... lets pretend this never happened!"
Bioware: "Yay!"
Bioware Publicist: "Yay!"

I was just hoping for more adaptibility, because if the actual information wont come out for weeks, its going to be a huge giant anticlimax to what is an exhilarating story:

Chris: "Ok! Everybody, looke here is some info about our new DLC"
Community: "Meh"
Press: "Meh"
Chris: "Uhmmm, why the blah's two weeks ago  you could not get enough of this!"
Community: "Yeah... we spent the last two weeks making and detailing more therioes than a conspiracy convention,
Press: "Two weeks ago, this was an exciting new story: A major leak, plucky forum hero, community alive with delight, and official confirmation it was not a hoax.
Chris: But.. but.. we are ready to give you teasers and stuff now! And more info!
Community and Press: "Meh.. where was this before we became jaded and still craved any scraps of info at all?
Chirs: "But... we weren't ready..."
Community and Press: "But we were"
Chris: :crying:

Sometimes you've got to roll with the punches, even when your not fully ready. Personally, I would love a bit more information just a teeny tiny bit instead of:
"Nothing to see here move along, move long, but come back when we are ready for you!"

The problem is technical, the issue here is the 2gb DLC limit that Microsoft have on their system.  For some reason their system can only handle DLC upto a maximum size of 2gbs.  So that is the limit they have and it will be applied across the board.

The Shadow Broker DLC was around 1.5gbs (might have been a tad bit smaller on the xbox) so they are getting close to the upper limit that XBL DLC has already.

But again, that dialogue tree stuff is old.  It's in a ton of the DLC files, going back to the original release.  Only the planet descriptions are really worthy of attention, as they're unique to the AAP2 files.

Just read the link and Im sold. The new DLC will involve the Batarians and probably the "Leviathan of Dis" which I've always thought was a dead Reaper. We're back in the saddle along with Shepard it seems.

Again: Ignore that shipwreck/batarian vessel choice stuff.  It's not in the AAP2 files, but it is found in numerous other (and old) tlk files: one of the Zaeed files, the Hammerhead, Inferno Armor, etc.  It's just some random testing thing.  There's a lot random text like that in the DLC files.  Recent ones tend to have the planet data for Kasumi's DLC in them for instance.  They also often have the info about the Incisor and the Arc Projector in them, for some reason.

Sounds like the story of the pinnacle station DLC...
Let's hope this DLC won't suffer that fate.
