No. As soon as it got out that giving them ten bucks would auto-kill a squadmate, sales would plummet.bluewolv1970 wrote...

This DLC better break my heart as in "emotionally" tear me from the inside like when I had to sacrifice someone on Virmire from ME1.
"Ultimate Sacrifice"
I expect great things from this DLC. I also hope it ends the game with no post ending gameplay. It's called "arrival" after all (maybe). An ending with the reapers getting here sooner then expected seems great.

Makes me wonder if Shepard joins back with the Alliance at the end.
At the very least, I think Shep and the Alliance will be friendly again, which will make paragons all warm and fuzzy.

I do not necessarily mean kill, but remove as a squadmate...I mean they could have done an ME dlc that bridged to ME2 that featured sheperd dying and Liara helping cerebrus...While I am certain all team mates will be mentioned in ME3 (and all LI's) having at least a cameo...It is unlikely that 15 characters are going to be plaable squadmates in ME3 so something has to change in the bridging dlc...

No squad deaths please, I love them all too much. /knifed through the heart
I do not think the DLC would disappoint too badly if it did not kill off a squad member. Teardrops on my guitar, please.

Do you guys think we will still be able to continue playing after this mission? I see several people seem to think otherwise; that is, this DLC concludes ME2 for good.
I sure hope so. We need an epic sighting of unknown ships nearing Arcturus at the end of the DLC and a "to be continued in ME3".

If they did make it conclude ME2 for good, then they could have some serious things happen (Reaper Invasion) and not have to worry about changing every level and everything to make it work.
Would seem the most logical to me to end ME2 with this.

Only think that this holds true if you believe that there is only going to be one more story related DLC. An assumption that I see many making based on the "Out of Game" announcement regarding CDN. I for one do not choose to believe that the DLC release schedule and fucntion of CDN go hand in hand...in other words simply because CDN will only focus on one story related DLC, does not mean that that will be the only one story related DLC. Time will tell and we shall see.

Trust me, guys: We will see something new and unique to this DLC. BioWare loves experimenting on DLC. They always feature new stuff never seen in the main game. Examples include the exploration in Ovelord, James Bond in Kasumi, the car chase portion in LOTSB (among a few other things), etc. This one isn't going to be any different. There has to be something less generic and more defining in it.
I think there will be a stealth mission, but can't prove it. Others think I'm flat wrong. I base the speculation on having to rescue the Dr. without being discovered.

The game barely acknowledges that you defeated the Collectors if you choose to continue, so why would this be any different? Doesn't matter to the save file how important or not any given DLC is, or when it's really supposed to be taking place. It's just some more variables to record.

I think we'll keep playing. People are hoping for some earth-shattering ME3 precursor and the only way such a DLC would work is if it were a conclusion to ME2. I don't think it's going to be that big - cool, like in LotsB cool - but no Reaper invasions. Heck, people think the Earth is going to be destroyed.

The CDN story *IS* related to the DLC. CDN talks about a Dr. on Arcturus. One of the DLCs has the name of said doc tagged to it. She is kidnapped by Batarians (Leviathan of Dis) and the Alliance tries to save her. Shepard comes along to help. The Batarian planets mentioned in CDN also apperar in the files. It's all connected. I suggest going back at least 3 pages and get informed.

Nah, again it needs to be much more than just dropping off some squadmates that should return as squadmates in ME 3 anyway (as has been pointed out, it's entirely possible). My guess is that "The Ultimate Sacrafice" involves Kaishley moreso than a ME 2 squadmate. No way they'll die, but something is sure to go wrong... maybe they become captured by Reapers or Batarians?

Thing is, though, they can't center it on any specific squadmate, since all of them could already be dead, and can't include all of them because getting all the voice actors back together can be expensive/difficult. For DLC, anyway.bluewolv1970 wrote...

If anyone's getting it, it's the VS, but I doubt BW would pull that in DLC. Like I said, people aren't going to pay money for something that ultimately removes content from their game.
I get your point about the ME3 squadmate problem, though. The point is that it's unlikely they'd do it in DLC.

I think that you are misunderstanding what I am trying to say...I am not suggesting that the DLC has no story tie-ins to CDN. On the contrary I think that CDN is a great resource for trying to uncover potential hints to the content that might be in story related DLC - and the example that you point out is great.
What I am saying is that CDN serves the function of expanding the ME universe in a unique way. At times Bioware has chosen to link that function to what they are doing to expand the universe with DLC. But, they are seperate entities. You have CDN. And you have DLC. At times there will be overlaps - and I believe that the "out of Game" announcement simply suggests that once CDN went hiatus, it would only return in two specific instances - a week before a DLC and a week before ME 3 launches. Nowhere, let me repeat that, nowhere does it state that CDN announced DLC will be the only DLC.
