I can tell you the sizes for the DLC on the PC :-

Overlord = 1.02gb
LotSB = 1.51gbs

We need to keep our expectations down here, as I posted earlier there is a 2gb upper limit for DLC on the Xbox 360.  The DLC will NOT exceed 2gbs.  So expecting some crazy 10 hour DLC with the same quality of assets that the Shadow Broker had is out of the question.

Now for those inevitable few that will go "how do you know there is a limit, you lie there is no limit" yadda yadda, here is the proof :-

"On XBLA there is a 2 GigaByte size limit we have to adhere to," the developer said. "Currently the title weighs in at 2.1GB and that is without any updates, so either we have to pull a miracle out of the bag with some type of amazing compression system, or ask Microsoft to increase their 2GB limit, however this limit is apparently hardware led.

Personally speaking I do not expect "Arrival" to last more than 60/90 mins.

I believe that Liara does take notice if you cheated on her. She doesn't reprimand you, as far as I can remember (First playthrough, been a while), but she does know it has been going on. If it were to be a crew member that dies, it would be hard to tell who it would be. If it were to be a crew member you pick up during the game, this DLC has to be only accessible after you've beaten the game. I'll break it down a little:

- It is unlikely that the 'Ultimate Sacrifice' will be Kaidan or Ashley, but it could happen that this DLC will deal with that relationship as LotSB dealt with Liara. As BioWare have said, cheating or being in multiple relationships will cause reprucussions in ME3. Which means that there will be a different outcome for each scenario e.g. getting it on with Kaidan in Mass Effect, but then being in a relationship with Garrus in ME2. They would hardly kill off a character after making that distinct comment.

- The sacrifice is most likely made by the scientist. We have seen mention of the Arrival (Most likely the Reapers due to the reference to the Mass Relays in the Cerberus Daily News.), and the Object Rho. Perhaps the object is some sort of beacon for the Reapers or something along those lines, which Amanda Kenson sacrifices herself to destroy/protect from falling into the wrong hands.

- The Citadel would be interesting to see as the sacrifice, but in terms of writing and pure awe, I would see BioWare saving a setpiece like the destruction of the Citadel for ME3. Also, the Citadel is unlikely to be sacrificed if Shepard is to converse with the Council to garner support. They hold the most sway in terms of galactic politics, and it would be necessary for them to be involved in defending Earth from the Reaper attack.

- Shepard's death is incredibly unlikely. While the death of Shepard at the beginning of ME2 was very effective in terms of a cold opening, it is unlikely that they would go through that process again. Bringing him back isn't impossible, but we've seen that the Lazarus Project took two years to complete. I do not see the Reaper attack being that long after the events of ME2.

Anyway, that's my two cents.

DO please realize the devs were talking specifically about Xbox Live Arcade.

Whether or not the 2GB restriction exists for DLC, I don't know. But DLC certainly does NOT fall under "XBLA".

That's what I thought, unless DLC falls under the same category...

Even if there is a limit for a single DLC...there isn't anything stopping them from breaking the DLC into two or more individual downloads in order to allow it it adhere to any space limitations XBLA might have.

What about GTA DLC and Red Dead Redemption? I'm not sure how big they are but I'm guessing bigger than 2GB's. Ballad of Gay Tony added about 5-6 hours of new missions and various other side-missions etc, same goes for Lost and Damned. And again for Undead Nightmare pack for RDR.

EDIT: Did some research. All the above mentioned DLC where 2GB's, compressed and 4GB's on a disc. Even so they where HUGE!

I believe the DLC is distributed via the XBLA system so yes the file limitation stands for DLC as well.  To date there has not been a DLC bigger than 2gbs.  The limit is there because of technical issues with the XBLA system.

I believe the biggest DLC to date has been the GTA 4 DLC coming in at 1.78gbs for TLaD and 1.87gbs for TBoGT.

It would be epic if 'Arrival' would be as big as Undead Nightmare for example.

For this stealth thing, as long as being discovered just means you have to fight it out and not get the medal instead of automatic mission failure like other games I will be excited to play it.

I hate when two seconds from finishing something the computer decides I'm blinking too loud and the entire enemy force suddenly knows exactly where I am and what color my panties are, so go directly to jail. :pinched:

Has anyone associated with Bioware chimed in to say anything about "Arrival" and/or it's mistaken leak. Would be cool to see what Chris Priestly can tell us, if anything. I imagine he's bashing his head into walls over this. Either way, I'm excited to hear about this and can't wait to play it!

If this has been brought up already sorry.

I'm new to the ME universe so bear with me here. I see a lot of speculation about this dlc content relating pretty heavily on events from ME1. Since this "leak" came from a PS3 patch it would stand to reason that since PS3 players may not have had a chance to play ME that it is unlikely that the dlc will focus too in depth about choices made from that game (not without a lot of backstory anyway), wouldn't it? Hopefully.

firetech40, LotSB was about Liara (from ME1) rescuing Feron (from the comic) and getting the Shadowbroker (also a character from ME1). Both Liara and the VS are covered in the PS3 backstory comic so that's not an impediment.

You are just not going to find any DLC over 2gbs.  This is why part of me wishes Bioware would drop this damn DLC malarky and actually do a proper expansion

if the sacrifice is EDI I'm gonna be pissed. A good sacrifice would be making Shepard a dark knight sort of thing, ruining the rest of his life for the greater good

That would definitely be awesome. A full-sized expansion for ME2 would allow Bioware to do whatever they wanted story-wise. If only...
:blush:

PS: 178 more posts and this thread overtakes the "What's Next for DLC?" one. This thread's been around for about 2.5 days... That one has been around for over 6 months. Come on Bioware, placate the masses!

For all those hoping for a GDC announcement. Just remember, last year at GDC, Bioware announced Kasumi's Stolen Memory so it is possible that Arrival could be announced next month.
