Probably won't be any new news at the very least until GDC starts on Monday, and they might even wait until after the release of Dragon Age 2.

I hope they don't wait until after Dragon Age 2. :(

I'm betting we'll hear something at the GDC.

A re-cap for new comers:

KNOWN: There will be a new achievements that are “Covert Action"  - Rescue Dr. Amanda Kenson without attracting hostile attention. "Last Stand" - Survive 5 waves of enemies while protecting the "Object Rho". And finally, "The Ultimate Sacrifice" - Totally no info on this one has been found.

SOURCE: Data entries in the patch for the PS3 version of the game, published on this forum in the original post of this thread by Vamplosion.

KNOWN: Dr. Amada Kenson is scientist from the University of Arcturus who has published a paper declaring that most mass relays are far, far older than then Protheans, so much older that the same species couldn’t have built them. SOURCE: Cerberus Daily News - last entry before going on hiatus. (01.24.11)

KNOWN: There are data entries for a new star system in the Alternate Appearance Pack 2, at least in the PC version. The new system is: Viper Nebula, with the Bahak System in it. The Bahak system has five planets: Clogon, Aratoht, Yunaca, Urnola and Bastzuda. There is a goal marker for “Save Dr. Kenson,” but no indication of which planet. All planets are listed as under batarian surveillance and most are inhabited. SOURCE: Thanks to didymos1120 and charmingcharlie (plus any others I don’t know about.) for confirming this on this thread.

KNOWN: The Bahak System is the same system where there was a testy situation between the Earth Systems Alliance and the Batarian Hegemony. The system’s in the Skyllian Verge. SOURCE: Cerberus Daily News

(01.22.11 and 01.23.11.)

-A frigate from the batarian colony of Aratoht discovered an Alliance cruiser, the SSV Budapest, in the Bahak system. The Alliance claimed the Budapest chased pirates into batarian space-

Note: On Earth, there is a widely recognized rule of “hot pursuit” that allows a nation to pursue pirate into the
territorial waters of another country.

The Budapest eventually left Batarian space, averting a worse crisis. The Alliance refused to release the ship’s logbooks to support the pirate claim.

KNOWN: For every planet, EDI gives the same warning:

“The Batarian Hegemony considers any presence of Alliance military vessels in batarian space as hostile. The Normandy SR2, while an independent vessel, strongly resembles the Normandy SR1, an Alliance ship. Use of stealth systems is highly recommended.”

Each of the planet descriptions let you know how intense its spy satellite surveillance is.

THEREFORE: Kenson is in batarian space and the Alliance can’t send in a rescue without risking a clash.

KNOWN: The Normandy is a Cerberus ship that’s fast and stealthy. Its chances of getting caught are lower than a normal vessel and the consequences of it being caught - as long as you’re not on it – aren’t as dire (diplomatically) as the capture and destruction of an alliance ship. It also has EDI, which betters its odds, and Joker.

SPECULATIVE: Note also the mission objectives: “Covert Action" - Rescue Dr. Amanda Kenson without attracting hostile attention.” That may only require slipping into the system unseen. Or it may require stealth in the ground mission itself.

I hope BW has learned their lesson (Akuze) and background/psych aren't completely ignored in this DLC or ME3. Out of nine combinations of background/psych profiles only two, Earthborn/Sole Survivor and Spacer/Sole Survivor, have nothing to do w/ Batarians.

This. One thing I really want in Mass Effect 3 is more conversation options based on your psch profiles and specific class interupts. I doubt will see them in the demo however.

I can't see them doing that. Those background options have very little to do with the gameplay. But I could possibly see them introducing Shepards Mom but I doubt it.

I could see them doing that.  Just because the background options didn't have much to do with gameplay in ME1 and 2 doesn't mean they can't do something with them in ME3.

I beg to differ.  BW f*cked up Sole Survivor in ME2.  It should have had a lot to do w/ the interaction between SS and Cerberus, but that horse has been beaten beyond glue.  Gameplay isn’t just about combat. It’s also about the interplay of dialogue, and if the Batarians don’t at least say something about the “Butcher of Torfan” then I give up.

I'm sure its been hashed out by now that this was a planted thread, right? I mean, Vamplosion only every created this thread and posted in this thread. Granted, epic thread, but I would still assume some other postings from a real member.

The leak wasn't even an "accident" to begin with.

Well, if this thread was a plant, obviously not.  Otherwise, is there some outside proof you're using or just the obviousness of this thread being a plant?

BioWare's explanation that 'someone screwed up. Whoops'.

These
are professionals who have released numerous DLC packs of this size
before with no leaks. Other than Shadow Broker which had assets in the
vanilla game left over.

either it's incompetence or a plant. the latter has faith in BioWare.

Does anyone know what the patch did other than add these trophies? Just out of curiosity.

Oh yes, accidental patch revealing a new DLC. We have dismissed that claim. But seriously, it wasn't "accidental".

I'm not sure I *believe* that it was accidental, but I find it plausible. Similar things have happened with other devs before.

I don't think we have the information to come to a conclusion on whether it was accidental or not.

The OP created his acount the same day he made this thread and he has posted nowhere else about anything.

This sugests a Bioware plant to make sure someone starts talking about the "leak."

If the leak were accidental, why have a plant?  How have a plant?

The logic here works both ways, Omnicrat.

The leak was to everyone who received the PS3 patch -- several thousand gamers, at least.

Somebody was going to notice it.

If nobody noticed it and BioWare/EA had to recruit a plant to point it out -- well, that would be a rather sad commentary on the PS3 fanbase, wouldn't it?

I don't think that happened. In the end, though, it doesn't matter much. Even if it is a deliberate plant, the info's still good. In fact, it's better. It means is part of a marketing campaign for something -- not some failed project that wound up on the cutting room floor.

I think it's plausible that he just never used the forums until he found the trophies on his PS3. It's also plausible that he's a plant. I just don't think we can say either way.

Plant. oh look, we *can* say either way. He was an obvious plant. If it had been an accidental reveal, then the mods would have been here either denying or have closed the thread completaly so it doesn't look the light of day.

Idk. When he opened this thread it was called "What is Arrival?" - hardly the most eye-catching title. It was only when someone suggested it to him that it was change - why not just call it NEW DLC LEAK or something else if you want to grab someones' attention?

But "accidental"? Yeah. Ok then. Whatever you say BW.

20 bucks says there will be a humorous intel report in Liara's new office after Arrival is released, based on this whole "was it intentional or not?" thing.

Well sure, you can *say* it.  But stating it as fact doesn't make it any less speculative.

Even if the reveal was accidental doesn't mean that Bioware would necessarily try to cover it up.  Lots of times stuff leaks and companies do exactly what Bioware did this time: say "yeah it's real, but we won't elaborate".

I really don't understand why people think this was a deliberate leak by Bioware.  To me it looks like a ****up and it isn't the first time that info on DLC has been leaked by patches accidentally.  The most famous one was the GTA 4 DLC for the PC.  For those that don't know the GTA 4 DLC was "exclusive" to the Xbox 360.  The PC version was patched extensively and on the final patch they inadvertently added the achievements for the DLC to the PC version.

When these achievements were discovered in the PC version, Rockstar were struck dumb and refused to answer any queries regarding the DLC achievements in the PC version.  Naturally the DLC appeared on both the PC and PS3 about 3 - 4 months later if memory serves.

I genuinely believe this was a mistake by Bioware, we were not meant to know about these achievements yet and a "glitch" in the system enabled them.  However at least Bioware were good enough to hold their hands up and say "it's a fair cop you got us" unlike Rockstar that spent months snowballing, ignoring and aggravating their customer base.

This
leak was probably intentional, and they are probably looking/reading

No and Yes :)

More info as soon as I get a green light from PR and Marketing I promise!  (it's a holiday here today)

I remember that, some idiots (Fox News, nothing new here) went on a mad rage about the sex scene even though they never had seen the game.  Several internet news sites are doing the same thing with the "intentional" leak.

At this point I don't care if it was deliberate or not.  I just hope Arrival involves more than just fighting Batarians.  I also hope that Bioware uses some of their new boss techniques from their previous DLCs.  (LOTSB's bosses were my favorite;).)
