I gotta laugh at all the people who hate the Asari just because they're fanservice. That's essentially saying: "I don't like them because other people like them!" or "I don't like them because I'm supposed to like them!" It's juvenile, really. Are the Asari any more fanservicy than the Drell or the Quarians?
Anyway, my favorite is probably either the Turians or the Salarians, simply because they strike me as the most realistic biologically and ideologically.
Least favorite has to be the Vorcha. There's no real depth to them, it's like they are meant to be cannon fodder and nothing more. We already have mechs for that.
That would just be another reason to dislike them though: because of the way they're forced on you. Like I said I don't hate any species, but Asari are one of my least favorite, just because they don't seem very interesting and yes, the way they're forced everywhere on the player. I don't really see how Quarians or Drell are fanservice?
Well consider how every time you meet Quarians outside the fleet, you have to save them. Every time. They give you the knight-in-shining-armor role for each and every one, regardless of gender. Smells like fanservice to me. The Drell were introduced in this game largely because of Thane. Think about it, what story purpose does Thane serve? How useful is he in the long run? Not very, but he is hot! Fanservice much? There's a reason why so many FemShep players like him so much.
Now the Asari are fanservice, no question. Does that make me like them less? Not really, I can see their merits outside of the whole "blue space babes" thing. They're an interesting species, and the main reason people claim not to like them is because they look "too human." Yet you never see this objection raised against Drell or Batarians, who are largely human as well, just not quite as close. They're the same size as humans, walk bipedal and upright, have five fingers, even have the same proportions.
I don't know, just the idea of your least favorite race being the one that was designed to be likable, based on that alone, just seems petty. It seems very "rebellious teenager" to me. It seems to say "screw you Bioware! I don't care how awesome you make the Asari, because you tried to make me like them, I hate them!" That said, sometimes the fanservice can get pretty blatant, but it's nowhere near as bad as Miranda's ass.

Favourite would be yahg because they're awesome!!!!!! nah I like asari and turians evenly
Least favourite would be Vorcha because they have no character or depth, I also am not a big fan of Quarians simply because I don't like their personalities. I also despise volus because they're so whiny

You help a lot of Quarians: I wouldn't really call that fan-service? They do have a lot of problems after all, what with their poor immune systems, the Geth, and everyone descriminating against them. Thane was most certainly fan service, but I wouldn't say all Drell are (granted, we only know 3...)
I agree with you to an extant about the Asari, but it's more about how they're so pushed on the character as being this extremely seductive species. I don't mind them, but I can see how everyone always going crazy over them (I'm talking in the game) could be pretty annoying. It's pretty hard to escape that sentiment too, as you pretty much run into Asari strippers everywhere.
But yeah, I'm surprised the cover of ME 2 wasn't just a picture of Miranda's ass.

Sad that so many hate the volus i think they are cool. they are cynical, depressed, funny and sometimes downright bastards wich make them so awesome! I'd like to see them in a more serious role in the third one

My least favorite race, would have to be the Yahrg...Reading the files on them in 'The Lair of the Shadow Broker'.They are more violent bloodthirsty and hostile to than even the Krogan are. What they did during thier planets 'First Contact' made the Councils embargo on thier world most justified!! But i fear that b/c they are now prisoners of thier homeworld, this will make it easy for the Reapers to tempt them to join them .They won't even have to use 'indoctrination'.The Salarians 'uplifted' the krogans. And in Mass Effect 3, the Reapers may 'uplift' the Yahrg.Since the Collectors are gone...They need to replinish thier numbers.

Least Favorite: Asari. I like most of the Asari characters, but I don't like the design, just seems too unoriginal. I understand the need for fanservice, but they just go over the top. An all female, alien yet aesthetically human, sex loving race = space game/movie nerd's dream. They are attractive, but the fanservice thing doesn't appeal to me.
Also humans, I would agree with the other races on how unfair it is that humans are trying to push to the top of the government, despite having just achieved space travel.
