There won't be scaled encounters.

Ah, good news indeed.

I've got bad news for you guys. The players are going to kill all your NPCs.

I don't think that selectable rest rules and scaled encounters are something you can make as an override, at least to an extent. I think it's something that would require setting up by the modder especially if you want to the best system.

No, they're generally not, though something like the PIA is. So, people can always use something like that.

nicethugbert wrote...
Isn't scaled encounters a module issue, not a campaign issue?

To an extent I'd say it is, and what I call "partial scaling" certainly is, but this is one of those things which will look really odd if inconsistant.

Yes, but the PIA does not have rest restrictions, which some players really want and some players really don't want. It does not have encounter scaling which some players may want and some may not want. So, why not make the players happy by giving them more of the options they want at their choosing?

And then they're going to marinade them in Rez sauce and spices.  Yum!  Tastes better the second time!

The concept is well taken, NTB, however, the fact that it IS an add-on and doesn't really add to or subtract from the overall utility of module coordination, I think just letting folks install it on their own really is the best course of action to take in this instance.

I went by the discussion group for this project and noticed that there are officers. I think that if this project is going to be successful, all the officers need ranks, titles, standards, and a sort of fortress, perhaps with lieutenants and such who can help to upgrade the community project and make it more defensible against the king of shad....

Who the H let Reider into the discussion group? What kind of security is this anyway? I think its time for a field promotion to general cause clearly this is a house of cards with the current governance

Elect me as officer, and I will multiply all recruitment and crop yeilds by 1.05! Also the Greycloak Civility will go up!

Lies. Lies and propaganda.

Just ask kamal. There are a large number of enemies I didn't kill. There was even one I left completely untouched. Okay, it was at full health because it insisted on healing itself fully whenever I felt I was getting somewhere, but still...

No offense intended towards those that like scaling but I am not a fan. Or at least I am not a fan of any method that is simple enough to be easily implemented.

As to rest restriction, I use this anyway. One can simply choose not to rest after every fight.

I d ont really care, but Im not sure why resting is allowed on any OLMs. After all the whole point of the map was to add the sense of travel. If all you have to do is set one foot outside a dungeon to be able to rest, you aren't going to go back to town.

If you never go back to town until every adventure is completely finished, you are kind of a) avoiding the travel and B) avoiding the overland encounters. And it was already said that an OLM with no combat is pointless, by hella fire I believe. Doesn't even look like the towns will be all that far (whats a 8 second walk, really?)

But again doesnt affect me just musing. You are welcome to sleep in my tower area. Don't want to get bug reports from users though, complaining "Hey my guy is bugged, every time he sleeps the graphics glitch so that he looks like he has no head. Oh and he has zero HP, shouldnt rest set it to full again?

Heh. I am inclined to agree in principle. Nor would I mind any form of rest restrictions. I just don't see them as all that necessary because I only rest when it would seem to make sense for it to be possible.

In SoZ didn't you have to have some series of feats or something to rest on the map without being attacked? It has been a while but I seem to remember there being a reason to pay to stay at an inn.

You could get group bonus like everyone having +4 survival and the leader having +8 to rest quicker (6 hours instead of 8) so I guess that was less time for a monster to find u.

Holy Crap! I'm an officer? How'd that happen? You know I tend to approach life from a Groucho Marx perspective: I wouldn't want to join any club that would have someone like me as a member.

Also, I shot an elephant in my pajamas last night.

How he got in my pajamas, I'll never know (rim shot!)

Call out the guard, arrest that man! Off with his head! Lock him in irons. Give the rack another quarter turn.

Phew! All these commands have tired me right out. Someone else, hey take over would ya, I'm breathin' here.

The project site is going to be moved over to the Citadel. Hellfire's got enough on his plate with modeling and what not without having to set up yet another set of forums and sub forums (including Ar Sooper Seekrit Kuhmoonity Projek, shhh, it's a sekrit! in pryvite forums) so that we can avoid having spoilerific information all over the google pages.

That will transfer over sometime this week (I've been kind of busy also,) but I promise as an officer of the project not to be caught derelicting my duties -- or something like that. We will still be updating, informing (whistle blows -- informants! call the guard, off with his head -- oh wait, this is a good thing) the community of progress and that sort of thing and we're still open to hearing your points of view on all sorts of things (and we promise not to tell which ones we're just going to laugh at evilly as we plot the doom, Doom, DOOM of your party.)

Best regards,
dunniteowl
(apparently drunk posting from all that heady POWAH!)

Yep, as DNO said--or at least I think he said(did he want two hardboiled eggs?)--the project is going to move over to the citadel. The less said about the difficulties of the group pages, the better.

New boss monster to replace the Tarasque or whatever its called.

Officer DNO:

Special attacks:
-Wall of text... paralyzes all fail a save vs cerebreal ablations
-Ban hammer save vs fortitude or be punted off to dragonlance or some other planet

Feats:
Moderation - ability to steer conversations wherever he wants. Don't even think about a diplomacy check. If he says the topic is hard boiled eggs don't talk about bacon. it will end badly.

AC: 9, +55 if protected by wall of text attack
HP: immortal
Can only be killed permantently by a wish spell or a refusal to read the forums.

Ya or naye?

Could we leave the Tarrasque in as a romance option?

It would be popular with the Bioware crowd.

I think some (ok, 99%) of the dragon age modders are equipped to do some kind of boobies on that creature model. Lets ask.

Image IPB and then some!

In truth I think the monster/PC romance option is missing in many of our community mods, you have touched on a currently untapped plot angle that we should at least consider.

Who is going to write the kissing scene - please ... no tongues ...

How long did you spend on that? Be honest. B)

I do have a romanceable scene in Shagret with a Lizardman. The whole scene is drug-induced and quite tongue in cheek(no, not *those* cheeks--dirty, dirty minds).

Ok well, I think we can all agree that that is very disgusting Chaos.
I will *not* be downloading Shagret as I am sure many others will not, for fear of the sin of science you seem to have created.
