I have not played adept since before the firepower pack came out.  Back then I took the AR training ( do not care for scope when using powers so don't like SR training ) and went with Vindicator, playing on insanity.  I know the Mattock is a good choice, but is the Geth Shotgun better for an adept?  I used to always take warp ammo as bonus power, but I took stasis this time.  I only just finished Mordin's mission, and I'm using Jacob's squad incendary, but I did not use stasis once.

The Geth shotty is a good choice. It blitzes shields and can effectively function over any range you want. It's an excellent option for virtually every situation except for husk swarms (and you've got a tempest for that)

I actually found my GPS wielding adept less difficult to play than my Mattock adept, because, with upgrades, the GPS can one shot most standard defenses (shields/barriers). With Squad AP ammo (I use Garrus for this) or Squad Incendiary, the same is true for LOKI mech armor and husks/abominations.

They both seem about even for bosses, though if you go 7/7 AR upgrades (killing Vido instead of saving the workers), the Mattock probably wins against later game bosses.

Yes stripping defenses is ezy with the gps. More than that though it is basically a heavy weapon because it does so much damage so it's useful against boss enemies. With the extra rounds you pretty much don't have to switch weapons either

The GPS is definitely worth a try. I would not say it's better than Vindicator/Mattock but it's different and fun on it's own. Combining it with Barrier can bring a nice change of pace for the Adept.

For Stasis, I think the key is using it early in a wave of enemies while protections are still up across the board. Using it early on the heavy weapon enemies allows you to remove that high damage (collector assassin/blue suns heavies/vorcha flamers) while cleaning up his buddies, then typically in about 6 seconds or so when he's falling to the ground and slowly getting back up, usually you're a bit closer in range and at least a couple of his weaker buddies are now dead allowing you to focus entirely on that guy, not to mention get in some free shots while he's getting up.

Honestly, Stasis is one of the more "tactical" powers in the game if you ask me, due to the fact it really makes you think about what enemy you want to remove temporarily from combat... and against high shield enemies its particularly nice since as an Adept, shields are your weakest link.

As for Bonus Weapon... really its a toss up, and probably more beneficial in terms of how you plan to play your Adept. I've seen enough of your posts to come to the reasonable conclusion that you're a pretty well versed player, so I'd say if you plan to play mid-short range combat go with the GPS, especially if you've got access to the Locust, and if you like to play a little more cautiously at range on occasion (I'm not suggesting you're going to play a sniper adept), the Mattock and its long range/high accuracy might benefit you more.

The GPS/Stasis combo is one of my favorites for Adept however, as I love the fact that the GPS does make for a good mid range-short range distance closer, and is HIGHLY effective against shields, and with Stasis it really allows you to shut down the more particularly damaging enemies (when all are still protected and your powers arent really too effective), and then get some nice cheap shots on them while they get back up.

Anyway, between the bonus weapons, I think you'll do fine either way, as for the bonus power, I'm a big fan of stasis simply because even level 1 offers great tactical options that even a maxed out ED doesnt.

Edit Add: I should also mention I think squad ammo powers from your crew are more beneficial on the GPS Adept, than the Mattock... or at least I certainly felt like I noticed the ammo powers more with the GPS than with the Mattock :?

I don't like how it looks, I hate how it sounds and the small delay is annoying, but the GPS is the ultimate weapon for an Adept: PEW -> Pull -> Throw = great stuff. :)
