Yes you can. You can change type of weapons, so the models change. Not all 2H weapons are the same, you know, as not all staff are the sames etc. Having a character tied to a specific type of weapon (that's neither the case for the rogue, that's the class that suffers the most with this problem) doesn't mean that the weapons models are the same.

I disagree. TW2 will have a lot of clipping issues.

Doesn't bother me, though I have always been impressed with the way Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 handle the on-body weapon storage. Specifically in ME2 where the weapons (especially heavy weapons) have very unique looks and shapes.

You know, this is something a lot of people want fixed, but I just fail to be bothered by it. Floating weapons do not affect me in any way. I don't care. I guess I'm just weird.

We're in the same boat.

And why do think that is? Come on, it's not that hard. Also ME has it's fair share of weapon clipping.

Yeah but the weapons in the Witcher 1 at least clip badly through Geralt.  That annoys me more than floating weapons really.  Don't know about Witcher 2 but I am sure that if they don't have floating weapons, they will have clipping weapons.

Neither of it bothers me enough to not buy the games.  In fact, never noticed this unitl I saw that screen shot.  Still don't care....

Again, MMO doesn't have playable party members. Every character is an instance on its own, meaning that being an MMO you can have many members in a party, yes, but these members are just other players istances.

In this case it is much easier to fix because it is the same as having an hero only. Devs can focus only on a particular shape mixing with weapons models and all is simpler.

The Witcher 2 will have even more clipping issues now that there will be proper loot.

I guess it is about effort vs. gain. It's probably rather difficult to do and only a hand full of people even care. So ...

Because BioWare cared enough to make that happen? It's easier to do it in Dragon Age. Hawke's sword doesn't need a complext folding animation to slot neatly onto his back. It needs to be stuck closer to the surface and all it needs is a scabbard/strap placed right there.

A ton of games with projectile weapons have managed the floating issue (Uncharted for example) and a ton have done it with bladed/medieval weapons.

It makes no sense that this still hasn't changed. This was an annoying thing like 8 years ago.

Surely you mean ME2 (which I haven't played but assume has changed...) because the weapons in Mass Effect all have the same damned model, which is boringly crappy. And NOT a "fix".

Clipping issues? I doubt it, if you've been following it as close as you're following DA2 you'd know, they designed a different scabbard for every sword model they have in the game, they've taken into account every piece of armor they designed in the game... they won't have the variety of DA2's weapons or Armor but they'll have enough, that said both games have their strengths and weaknesses and I'll play both.

Edit: Also remember guys in TW2 they only have to take into account Geralt's model, there's no Fem Geralt here, and there's no companions with different armor and so on, while TW2 will have companions (solely AI) you can't control them or change their weapons/clothes and so on.

Because it is much better to have "floating" weapons than to have clipping issues that differently from the former can be really gamebreaking to see, depending on the situation, and anyway clipping is always looked badly by reviewers in general; some of them consider clipping either bugs.

Since for the motive I mentioned having weapons at the waist not to produce clipping will be a pain, it is much better to have them on the back.

They're using an engine that's almost six years old. I doubt it has something to do with that but I hope it does. Otherwise it's just embarrassing, come to think of it using an engine that's almost six years old is embarrassing

EDIT: off topic Lady Hawke does apper to have a lovely pair it wasnt an illision after all

Bioware staff isn't skilled enough. Joe Blow the modder who lives in his parent's basement will not only fix it, but add a sheath and everything with improved textures and armor all around.
