I disagree. TW2 will have a lot of clipping issues.

Clipping issues? I doubt it, if you've been following it as close as you're following DA2 you'd know, they designed a different scabbard for every sword model they have in the game, they've taken into account every piece of armor they designed in the game... they won't have the variety of DA2's weapons or Armor but they'll have enough, that said both games have their strengths and weaknesses and I'll play both.

All of this and it will still have clipping.  Unless they can program the way a sword sits in a scabbard on your back or side and make it react with Geralt's every movement then there will be clipping, period.

Now if they actually do that wonderful tech, more power to them.

Again, I could care less, I will own both games.

many reasons, It looks cool, having 2 blades on your sides makes you have to cross your body with your arms or bend your wrist back  , but on your back you can simply reach up pull them out in one motion.

oh dear will they ever fix this?? theres other game that have

Which games have fixed it?

Mass Effect.

And why do think that is? Come on, it's not that hard. Also ME has it's fair share of weapon clipping.

Because BioWare cared enough to make that happen? It's easier to do it in Dragon Age. Hawke's sword doesn't need a complext folding animation to slot neatly onto his back. It needs to be stuck closer to the surface and all it needs is a scabbard/strap placed right there.

A ton of games with projectile weapons have managed the floating issue (Uncharted for example) and a ton have done it with bladed/medieval weapons.

It makes no sense that this still hasn't changed. This was an annoying thing like 8 years ago.

Man, do you think about it? I guess you didn't. DA and DA2 have different armor sized and the weapons can have addional animations on them like fire, etc. Think what will  happen when a weapon is close to the character's model and they equip a bigger in size armor, for expample a rogue which usually should not wear plates and stuff and then add the flame animation. What happens then? Tell me.

So they don't have do an animation that reacts to having a sword on your hip realisticly.

Based on what?  From what I have seen in the gameplay videos there are no clipping issues.

Yeah but the weapons in the Witcher 1 at least clip badly through Geralt.  That annoys me more than floating weapons really.  Don't know about Witcher 2 but I am sure that if they don't have floating weapons, they will have clipping weapons.

Neither of it bothers me enough to not buy the games.  In fact, never noticed this unitl I saw that screen shot.  Still don't care....

The Witcher 2 will have even more clipping issues now that there will be proper loot.

No it won't, how about you do your research?

CD Projekt Red in addition with their own new engine has taken account into every weapon model, including scabbards for each sword. Hell, they even took care of loose hair animations so it won't be one of the classic 'super-gel-hairdo' every game does.

Have you seen any TW2 gameplay? that's called a physics engine and it's in the game :)... however since there's the risk of this turning into another TW2 vs. DA2 thread I'll stop right there.

Bioware staff isn't skilled enough. Joe Blow the modder who lives in his parent's basement will not only fix it, but add a sheath and everything with improved textures and armor all around.

In fact there's a mod in Nexus made by Joe Blow that does just that for DAO.

Oh, wait... after 2 years there's none actually. Probably Joe Blow is not skilled enough too.

If your was sarcasm mine is too ;-)

Umm. Okay, I don't have beef with floating weapons - let them be, imo, who cares.. But that bow picture is just hilariously bad...

having 2 swords on your hips is not realistic, think about it.

unlike pistols in the old west you can't just simply grab and pull out of sheath if you did you would be holding them wrong, but reaching up and pulling out they will come down in a position to fight.

Your left arm grabs the right weapon your right arm grabs the left weapon. Both ways you'd come out ready to fight. It's quite simple.

Still there's the great difference that CD Project has to do this ONLY for Geralt. For a party it's all another thing. Same as adding mounts etc.

As I said it can be done, naturally, but it's a pain and for what? I sincerely don't think that having weapons in the back or not sheaths or "floating" weapons is a so mind-breaking issue, it can be a nice touch, yes, but not much more. Probably with technology these things will be easier to produce for devs, but as of now it is a lot of work for a small things as that to produce for a party of 4 different characters.

I'm pretty sure the work done for Geralt is also done for various NPCs throughout the game to (such as the main subordinate characters or the antagonists).

But I agree, DA2 engine is not the same as the RED engine but this still doesn't rule out the possbilty for the devs to upgrade the engine to actually add some realism in proper weapon holding plus actual bowstrings in the game (bow strings, come on).

Yeah, sorry Witcher 2 fanboys and girls. Just checked out some Gameplay videos of your "perfect" game and sorry. Geralt's sword clips many times with his back and left hip. Also, it actually floats a little too. Not as much as the DA2 screenshots but it is floating a tiny bit off the back.

Seems like your perfect game has floating weapons too.

Now stop with teh silly comparisons and go to your own forum if you want to talk about your game.
