You seem awfully upset about something that you don't care about. As has been posted, other people do care, and the point of posting is to let Bioware know that we would like bowstrings in DA3.

You seem to be the only one that's not acting objectively in this thread. I didn't see any posts in this thread describing that kind of behaviour, except for when you claimed that TW2 floating weapons were just as bad as DA2.

I'm assuming they keep the weapons that far back to prevent clipping, I'd imagine. Games where the weapons are very close to the person always have clipping issues. Its more of a pick your poison. Clipping or floating.

Actually it was the Bioware marks that asked the question "what games don't have floating weapons?"  When I said "The Witcher 2" you all are the ones who started the anti-witcher argument by throwing out utterly baseless claims. 

Also you must have been watching an old gameplay video because the last couple have had no noticable clipping issues.  As for the floating weapons, you must be watching some video that I haven't because I haven't seen anything of the sort.

I do think the TW2 has it easier, as others have pointed out. All of Geralt's armor seems to be fairly light-weight(though I may be wrong -- I didn't do extensive research), with a similar mass. In DA, you have characters wearing everything from robes, to massive plate, and everything in between. This makes it harder to come up with a one-size-fits-all solution. Geralt also seems to only use swords(again, I may be wrong -- it just seems to be what he has in every screenshot). In DA, there are daggers, hammers, greatswords, axes, etc... which adds an additional layer of complexity.

I don't say this to take away from CD Projeckt's hard work in making TW2 look amazing Clearly they went above and beyond in implementing these things. But there are factors that may invalidate a direct comparison.

As to the bows? Yeah... I think Bioware does it to mock us. And they do look terrible in that screenshot.

This is true, the only heavy armor in TW2 is guard armor and they are already assumed to be preset with same, well everything, with maybe some slight variations.

However, I still disbelieve the fact that BioWare devs can't implement a semi-proper physics engine into the game. A old old game like Morrowind actually has basic proper bowstring and hold, even for a 1st person game.

I was generalizing after reading many posts by you, you are an obvious troll trying to bait DA2 fans, I personally couldn't care how many orgasms you have over the witcher 2 or its screenshots. model, including scabbards for each sword. Hell, they even took care of
loose hair animations so it won't be one of the classic
'super-gel-hairdo' every game does.

Nah, it was an internal gamplay video.  And not just one video either..  Not to mention, the screen shots in this very thread have clipping in them.

I personally don't see the big deal as far as 'floating weapons' and 'string-less bows' go.
It may be a tad annoying, initially, but I doubt one would be noticing that through most of the game (unless one were obsessive compulsive or anally retentive, I guess...).

re: Creative Assembly (I guess Shogun 2: TW?)
Did the bows have strings? I don't remember. I do recall the gameplay vids showing the soldiers w/ katana on their hips without scabbards.
Not a big deal, tho'. I'd be more interested in how I can get some Prussian Line Infantry and Grenadiers to fight samurai. 

re: The Witcher 2
It sure does look pretty (That said: Morrigan > Triss! Maybe I'll reconsider if they manage to introduce Yennefer in the upcoming game, or later...).
It's a good thing it won't be out 'til later this summer...which means more time to focus on DA2. 
(which I think looks fine, so far. It may not be great, but a.) it doesn't really have to as long as the characters & story are great and b.) it looks better, for the most part, than DA:O... )

I can deal with the lack of bowstrings, though visible bowstrings would have been great. Floating weapons are, however, another story. I first noticed it in DA:O when I had installed a bunch of mods for the first time (and happily gotten them to work in perfect harmony). I thought, at first, that one of the mods must have messed up the game, and days of experimentation followed. When I finally realised that that was actually the way it looked by default, I had spent so much time obsessing about it that I couldn't be bothered with finishing my playthrough. I did later on, of course, but the floating weapons still bother me. A LOT.



And this from a person that can safely be categorized as a Bioware fangirl. I'll always buy their games and love them, of course, but my hatred for the floating weapons burns with the strength of a thousand suns.

It's not perfect and I'm sure it will have its fair share of issues. But it's definitely well above Dragon Age II in this department. Acknowledge that and move on instead of acting as if someone just insulted your mother. If BioWare were to actually grant us sheaths and bowstrings ( unfathomable, I know ) would that be such a bad thing?

Defending BioWare at every turn really isn't productive. Especially not when the criticism is valid. I mean, even Fable had bowstrings.

No... Just, no. It had a bowstring, it pulled back and it was ugly as hell.



Oblivion did it much better, but even that was hard to watch if you shoot bows yourself. Mount and blade does bow's well, though.
