Dragon Age: Origins was a huge success, earning BioWare many awards...but lets face it, the expansion and DLC that came after has not done justice for such an epic game.  Awakening in particular was very buggy (I mean my Warden's arms were stuck in the air, making cut-scenes very comical at least) and lacked many of the qualities that made DA:O so popular (i.e. character interaction, romance, etc.).  The ending left people scratching their head...surely that is not the end we all envisioned for The Warden after the countless hours we've spent creating his/her story, right?  In fact, those who chose to have their Warden die after killing the Archdemon may be the lucky ones among us.  At least their Warden was given a proper send-off.

Following Awakening up with The Witch Hunt DLC to lead into Dragon Age 2 was a good idea to wrap up the Morrigan storyline...if only it had been done correctly.  Instead of a satisfying conclusion one way or another, we're left with more questions.  Questions that need answers.  And that's to say nothing of bugs it suffered as well.  I mean, come on BioWare, is that really how you treat a franchise that showed so much promise???

Maybe that's not the last we've seen of The Warden, Morrigan, and others from DA:O.  We can only hope that there is a plan to bring them off the shelf where they seem to have been forced into early retirement.  I, for one, would be ecstatic for the chance to play my Warden again.

Which brings us to BioWare's newest addition, the soon-to-be-released Dragon Age 2.  A new story, with a new character.  It will undoubtedly incorporate all of DA:O's quality elements, and even upgrades the combat system.  It all sounds great, and I really hope BioWare knocks this one out of the park.  I hope they blow us all away with a game that not only equals DA:O, but far surpasses it.  They need to.  They HAVE to.  Because if they don't, it will kill the Dragon Age franchise.  And I know we can all agree that there is too much history already written, too much potential for what can be, to just throw it all away.

This is your hourly reminder to stay on target and not let the thread get dragged into a Witcher thrash, nor discussions of "what is a troll". These are the DA2 forums. There's a whole off-topic forum all the way over there.

Thanks.

Yeah, this doesn't really have anything to do with DA2 any more, does it?
