Hey All... so my PC is only able to run on minimum to med settings ( closer to min though im guessing). so i was going to buy the xbox version to make sure i get a great experience and not worry about technical difficulties

but since the toolset was shown it looks really cool, i've never tried to mod anything or make my own scenarios but this looks like something i'd like to try.

so my question is is the toolset worth it on my comp, and is it going to be something i can learn to use and have fun with? thanks for the advice everyone!Posted Image

Heres my dxdiag print out:

2046MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT
Display Memory: 1267 MB
1280 x 1024 (32 bit) (60Hz)

The only problem you have on your PC is the 8500 GT, which is a little on the weak side. You could pick up a very nice 9800 GT for around $75 after the rebate.

Adding that in would put you at a comfortable point for running DAO on your PC, especially since you're running at 1280x1024.

If your PC can run the game, it should be able to run the toolset. It's really a decision you should make based on whether you think you can enjoy *playing* the game on the PC with lowish graphics settings.

I think this is good advice right here. Your computer will run the toolset, and your graphics card won't be a big deal, but it will be for the game. The processor and memory specs are more important for most tasks in the toolset IMO. Just as an example, when I load one pretty good sized area that I'm working on, the toolset consumes 2GB of memory. Going to 4GB in your computer would probably be the first thing to do to get better toolset performance.

I agree with those above. No point slaving over mods that you can't test.

When NWN first came out, I was in the same situation. I could only run the game at minimum settings. The toolset was pretty slow. In fact I couldn't really load any of the levels that came with the game. I could still make modules though and eventually I did upgrade my system.
