Well...then Mark Vanderloo to play the part of John Sheppard in the ME movie because he looks excatly like Shep.

Jake Isfar from A list the closest thing He's been in that could be considered a blockbuster is "THe Day after tomorrow, Bean Biggest perforance was in LOTR and he died at the end of the 1st movie. You got me with Angie but But I think The studies have leard there lesson since 2001.

I don't think Brad Pitt would make a good Commander Shepard. That's my personal opinion though, and he has surprised me as an actor before, however I just don't see him in the role. I don't think I would buy him as the saviour of the universe.



Having said that off the top of my head I can't think of any actor that would be able to accurately depict the character. I would absolutely love it if the film had a female Commander Shepard instead though, just for the fact that they never would do it.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. There's just as much chance of them messing it up with a female lead as a male lead. True they may focus on different things, but I think it's a bit unfair to say a female lead would make the film a piece of trash. I have every confidence they will find other more viable ways to trash it.

Also, I didn't dislike the Tomb Raider films, or the new Tron film, and I watched neither of them simply because of Angelina Jolie or Olivia Wilde. I felt the Tomb Raider films did a decent job of capturing the feel of the games, the first one in particular, and the Tron remake was more about CGI and action than anything else. Not to say that people didn't see these films because of Olivia Wilde and Angelina Jolie, but I know I did not, and do not feel they turned the films into trash.

But back to the topic... if I'm not mistaken, Mass Effect is Shepard's story. Whoever they choose to potray him/her will likely get a lot of screen time, male or female. You've opened up a new line of thought for me though which I appreciate, and that is that whoever plays Commander Shepard should be an unknown. If they did it that way then they could justify showing less of them, and more of the galaxy, and make it more about the setting while successfully bypassing the type of movie-goers who care more about names than story.

If they decided to go with a female Shepard, I think Jennifer Connelly would be a good choice. Her voice matches femShep's quite well, and I can imagine her being good in an action role. Plus the fact that she's not quite as popular and famous as other actors out there means that it would be more likely for the film to be focused on the story and source material, rather than being a star vehicle.

Thats why i was thinking of Timothy Olyphant as an unkown but decided to go with Pitt based on his appearance & sure think acting skills.

Yeah I don't know about Timothy Olyphant, I've only seen him in two things and both of them were awful. It wasn't his fault they were bad mind you, but I haven't seen him anything good enough to give a fair opinion of him as an actor.

One good thing is that as Shepard's appearance isn't set they choose anyone. The role isn't limited to caucassian males which leads to a lot of possibilities. That said they probably will simply go for the Shepard on the box, as he is the (arguably) canon Shepard... in which case I still don't have a clue who should play him. xD
