I bought a digital download of ME1 from gamestop. After
downloading the game I tried to install but I doesn’t work! Every time I try, the
instalshield wizard pops up (which is expected) and says, "Mass effect
setup is preparing the installshield wizard, which will guide you through the
rest of the setup process. Please wait." and a millisecond later a box
pops up with an exclamation point in a yellow triangle. The box doesn’t say
anything. It only gives me the option to click ok and even when I do the window
doesn’t close so I have to use task manager to close the program. Please help
me! Due to the return policy on the game stop website, I can’t
"return" the game :(

Have you tried running as admin, and running in XP compatability mode?

Do you have Kapersky AV? If so, get rid of it.

I've tried both running it as admin and in xp compatibility mode.

Idk what kapersky av is so I guess I don't have it.

Kapersky AV is Kapersky AntiVirus.

First thing t try would be to download it again. Some browsers can have problems handling large downloads, and browsers add-ins can also give problems. Try downloading it with either Chrome, or Opera.

If you are running any form of wireless, either internet or local networking, I would suggest using a wired connection, as the packet loss which occurs via wireless can cause corruptions to the downloaded file.

If you have received a product key via email, you can also try downloading it direct from EA's digital distribution channel.

I downloaded it 3 times already but I'm trying again using chrome while using a wired connection. I'll let you know if it worked by tomorrow. thanks :)

If it doesn't, how would I get it through EA?

You get their Download Manager from here;

http://www.ea.com/ne...ownload-manager

I havent used it, as I tend to buy the physical disk versions of games, but from what I recall from others saying, all you need it that, and the product key you should have been provided with your purchase from Gamestop.

Based on the error code, and what people have reported in the past, you may be putting in a 0 (zero) instead of O, or the other way around. Other people have misread B and 8, or O and Q.

What may help is when it comes to the activation screen, use copy/paste to get the code from the email you received, and put it into the code boxes.

Sounsd like you were sent a dodgy code by Gamestop. Best bet now is to contact EA supprt in regards to this, and see if they can provide you with a new activation code. Use their live chat facility and once you get onto a rep, they should be able to help you out fairly quickly.
