However, I think after ME3 is done, what we'll get is DA3, probably late 2012/early 2013

Well since they already have sci fi and fantasy covered, it really is likely that if there's another new IP it'll likely be modern day.
That would actually probably be pretty awesome coming from Bioware.
Or post-apoclyptic. So many ideas.

They're going to buy Obsidian and then make Alpha Protocol without Sega rushing development.
That would be the dream.

That would be awesome, but I'd prefer a low fantasy/horror CRPG set in the late 19th/early 20th century. Not steam punk, but something dealing with all the crazy occult movements of that era. Or a Delta Green CRPG.
Edit: It's an interesting topic, but shouldn't this thread be in the off-topic forum?

Steampunk! Like Arcanum. Make it so, Bioware!

IMO it's not a bad thing, ME2 was fun and DA:O's showed they can't create good tactical combat anymore.

Well Bioware could finally make this original hardcore dark mature awesome-looking RPG with need of tactical thinkin, lots of logical puzzles and choices that really matter with brand new not copied IP, they always wanted to make but never did =)

If they want a bigger market I don't see why they're still making M rated games...
Then again, for some parents, unfortunately the M rating doesn't mean that much. The M rating simply means kids will want to buy it ('cos it's cool) and still pester their parents for it. In my opinion for example, blood splatters are not necessary for mature players and I get the feeling this is more, although not exclusively, favoured by younger players who shouldn't necessarily be playing this sort of game. For me, what makes it for mature players is not the cosmetics but some of the storyline details and choices made and I hope this continues in whatever Bioware decide to do next.

And that would kill sales heavily since they are only appealing to a small minority of people who get cheap thrills from playing really hard games to somehow feel "hardcore" They have been doing a lot right lately and to kill that off to appeal to a small number of people would be silly.
Same with the idea of making Jade Empire 2 really i think it'd only appeal to X Box owners who have a nostalgia thing for it most people who played the PC port didn't really like it so again you're appealing to minority audiences.
While Dragon Age could technically go on forever with games telling different stories centered around a whole world perhaps after Mass Effect 3 that series could have run it's course for a while leaving the door open for a new idea to come through.

This issue has come up in two different threads recently and I keep coming back to the same thought...something along the lines of the Lovecraft Mythos! Not sure if that's an open property or Licensed, but Bioware could do some real damage to my wallet with something that has the character searching down the source of all dark Myths.
I think they would do well to develop a new IP...even the most popular Series can begin to lose appeal for all but the hardest-core fans.
