Which sacrificed anything that resembles gameplay to be a storybook. I don't compare visual novels to games even if they attempt to fake gameplay by adding some Nintendo Wii functions :D

We were talking about choices, I gave you game where choices have impact on the story and the game and you talk about gameplay ... because? Since its completly irrelevant ....

I have to disagree. after DA and ME, bioware should know how to make a rpg appeal to the majority. they just need to make some tweaks on character cumtomization, weapon/armor/clothes, and design a funtional combat system similar to ME2. then most rpg fans will somehow accept it

If everything was that simple more RPG sequals would have big sales. The difference here is that ME and DA appealed from the start and already had the audience moving forward to sequals. When new games come out you need to have that buzz and anticipation and since only a minority liked the first game then that buzz isn't there for a sequal so they'll find it harder to give people reasons to buy it. Unless it was a complete overhaul of story and combat system to make it a more interesting game but then it would not be Jade Empire anymore. Sometimes you need to let a game rest and not resurect it for nostalgia's sake.

Same for all these people who want Baldur's Gate 3 and all that nonsense. Let good games rest and don't let sequals be made that you know you won't like. They'll never capture the things from the past that you loved because this is the now. Move on and encourage new ideas instead of trying to relive your past over and over by wishing for remakes.

I wouldn't necessarily
discount old franchises, just look at Fallout 3, the originals had a dedicated
but small following and Fallout 3 became a big hit. As long as the game they
make is good people will be interested in it.

I can see them doing a couple more games in the ME
and DA franchises before they branch out to something else though.

I would like to see Bioware make a new IP but unfortunately with the way the market is right now publishers are a little gunshy when it comes to new properties and prefer to work with existing ones since they are already known among the majority of the consumer base and thus better chance to sell.

Not fussed on Jade Empire but I'd fight a bear for KOTOR 3.

Isn't that the "choice" in all games that offer it? You need to still follow a narrative even if you offer choices so really it's just different ways of advancing the narrative.

Heavy Rain ;)

...Is barely a video game

I just hope that TOR doesn't kill off any chance of it ever happening. Although I've accepted just how slim the chances are.

I would hope for a continuation of the Jade Empire series. Very unique.

Tactics Ogre has a few big choices that change the narrative.  *wishes he had a psp to play the remake*

Star Wars The Old Republic's narrative will not be hurt by it's status as an MMORPG.

The game pretty much has a full single player campaign where you meet companions, develop your character's personality, and do all the other cool stuff that is generally associated with a Bioware RPG. The actual MMORPG element is basically an extension of the game that you can do with other players.

I don't like MMORPGs but I will still be checking out Star Wars The Old Republic.

Bioware no longer owns the rights to Baldur's Gate

This. That’s one of the reasons they created their own D&D-like universe and replaced the names of certain skills or spells. I badly want a Baldur’s Gate 3 sequel though. Assuming you don’t ascend to godhood during in the Throne of Baal expansion, the second game Shadow of Amn shows a bunch of robed wizards round a table saying “The child of Baal has become too powerful!” or some such nonsense. That looked interesting! I wanted to see where they were going with that!

Well since they already have sci fi and fantasy covered, it really is likely that if there's another new IP it'll likely be modern day.

That would actually probably be pretty awesome coming from Bioware.
Or post-apoclyptic. So many ideas.

Steampunk! Like Arcanum. Make it so, Bioware!

Or an Arcanum sequel. I've been dying for that.

The Mass Effect Universe is too big, too rich to not use it for more than a trilogy. I'd see more games, and a couple movies added to it. But I think before they create a new IP they should modify the whole "ancient evil destroying the universe" plot. It's getting a bit old.
