That was a horribly put together demo. Gameplay and conversations were fine, combat was really fun, but why restrict inventory and some skill trees? I was picking up a lot of items, but couldn't make use of them. What was the point?
And this must be said, the cooldown for heal is just freakin' ridiculous. What is it, 40 seconds? Since the fighting is faster this time around, longer cooldowns don't help much! There were NO potion pickups before the battle with Hayder, so my warrior was essentially running around with low health until heal was useable again. Heal needs to have a shorter cooldown while costing more mana.
Well guys, two more weeks to go. I can hardly wait now.
OR you need to up your RPGing skills!

Otherwise, I'm enjoying the combat immensely.

While you hit enemies with much higher frequency, their health bars still seem to go down at about the same pace as in DAO. Makes it look like i'm hitting them with a toothpick, making almost no damage per swing. A little frustrating.
How hard do enemies hit? I´ve noticed they are much slower than the party, but not how much damage they do. I´m afraid they´ve made this a contest between Fragile Speedsters and the opposite type.

I had a finishing move on the ogre with all three clases. You just have to be hawk.robmokron wrote...

One random thing: I've finished 2 playthroughs now and I don't think I've seen a finishing move. I don't know if they disabled them for the demo, I just missed one, or what. But, yeah, that's odd.
No more finishing moves.
I did notice no finishing moves, but there was supposed to be finishing moves, mages were even supposed to have them. Maybe on for PC cause of auto combat

I just had a Starfox flashback. "do a barrel roll!"

I find all the three classes enjoyable, though I have to play a S&S warrior (but from what I saw with Aveline it seems indestructible). The only problem is with the things that are locked, especially the skill trees.

I did notice the following things:
1) Picking neutral = Jokes
2) Rogue autoattack does less dmg then that of the mage.
3) Mobs will not go for the healer, they will attack those that are close to them.
4) Giving us weapons to loot, but we can not equip them /sadface.

The new combat is amazing. The pace is frantic and makes combat seem a lot more exciting (not that I had an issue with the DAO, it's probably my favorite game of all time.) Like a couple people said, it will take some getting used to the changes, but I think they are for the better. I feel like I've been waiting forever for a fantasy RPG with real time, visceral combat, and this has it. Which is amazing.
The graphics... mmmeeehhh. I love the new art style, but the character models lack detail, and the environments (at least in the demo) are unimpressive. I don't understand how Lothering is suddenly a vast wasteland. Kind of silly. And I don't understand how people are saying the faces and animations are better... I feel like they are the same. One scene the mom did the whole "cardboard cutout putting prayer position hands over face" and I was like ugh. But I will reserve judgement until the full game. The interface is, while very Mass Effect-y, a huge improvement, the level up screens are great.
The sound is kind of meh as well. The music is great, some of the voice acting is amazing (Hawke, Isabella) but the rest is pretty crappy, especially in the longest section of the demo with his family. This paired with the akward movements is hopefully an issue only present in the opening parts. But as with the graphics, we'll see.
So this probaly seems really negative, but it's not lol. The new combat is great, the new interface is great, the music is great, art style great etc.... the graphics and voice work, not so much.
Fortunately I wasn't really worried about the graphics or voice work, I was concerned about the gameplay changes, so the demo eased my mind. I just wasn't blown away as I was maybe expecting.
Can't wait for the actual game to come out, and when the PC version goes live I'll post my thoughts on that if they are any different.

Are you talking about an ingame deathblow? Pretty sure the cinematic one of the exaggerated part doesn't count.

The whole thing with Varric I'll admit worried me but the role is rather well done. Saddly short of my imports I doubt I'll pick up Origins again once March the 8th rolls in.

Female warrior (sword & shield) - easest run through.
Male rogue (dual wield) - Rogue is actually roguish, instead of being a lightly armoured warrior.
Female mage (party died fighting ogre)....restarted as male mage and restated party to make Aveline and Carter survive better against ogre (defender). More difficult on the lower levels, but looks like mages will be devastating as they level up.
Female rogue (archer) - Archers are going to be very dangerous at higher levels, very fast rate of fire tapping A and I spent most of the Ogre battle running and flipping away as the Ogre chased me 'Benny hill' style around.
Male warrior (2 hd) - Okay, but strangely I prefered the sword and shield setup.....maybe comes into own ones you can level up the 2 hander more.
Overall graphics have greatly improved from origins
Combat has also improved.......althrough the press A for every attack will probably get annoying after a while (no auto attack on demo). Also the "I am not in range/no target" animations as slighty silly, particularly as a mage since hawke looks like he/she is at a disco rather than a battlefield.
Two things I noticed, I got a vial of darkspawn blood on one playthrough and apparently Hawke father will be keeping the deceased sibling company.

Yeah, I noticed the DS blood too. Maybe it's useful for some side quests?
And about the father, I remember that Bioware already said that he's dead.
