Which just kinda makes me want the main game more actually. Cause if this things really like half a year old as far as when they pulled it for working on, main things gadda be crazy awesome.
-edit-
Oh Also noted something, people where speculation the kill animation was replaced (with the 2h) by the 'arm pump' thing after you kill an enemy awhile back. It looks like that happens anytime you attack with out a target. Does that with all the styles even mages, they play through some idle animation.
Big issue with mage in demo cause he twirls the staff around and you can't interrupte the damn animation. So if you accidently do it with out a target, and your wanting to attack you gadda sit and watch before you can.

A few bits of lore I got from the demo, for those interested and also perhaps for wiki updaters. Spoilers, but nothing too heavy.

Anyway, a few pointers:
- Hawke and Carver were at Ostagar in Cailan's army under a certain Captain Varel (the seneschal from Awakening?).
- Hawke's dad was called Malcolm. This is mildly annoying because my Warden was called Malcolm. [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie]

Also, the demo is restricted to Normal difficulty.
I guess we know who Hawke's father is now then...

I was waiting so eagerly but 2 days b4 the demo i found out that silver users get it later. I think ill just create some imports for DA2 and wait for the full game. I wanted to test all the classes.

Had very little issue with the text myself to be honest, I thought the demo was pretty good. Interesting change from DA:O I actually enjoyed the new combat (other than when moving from enemy to enemy Hawke seemed to decide to stop for a moment & pump his fist in the air) but I think the menu & leveling up system will take a bit of getting used to.
The art style of the game was great, I look forward to exploring the depth of the new region in such graphic detail. One of the things I had to think about was Flemmeth being involved at the start of the story while escaping from lothering which in the timeline would overlap with the story of Origins, I hope they have some form of information as to her being in both stories simultaniously & some detail of how she survived assuming the main character killed her in the first game.
Another thing I am hoping for would be for the characters in the future to be a little more colourful as the party so far doesn't seem as interesting as the Origins cast but the Dwarf from the start (unsure of his name) & Isabella seem like they have room to develop & the fact your sister is in the party should be an interesting change. All in all I still have high hopes for this game though & can't wait for the 12th.
The devs already stated that Flemeth's meeting with Hawke is before the warden gets the chance to kill her.

I had a free gold 30 day trial left over from something. I still have 2 more of them in my drawer and I have no idea where I got them from. These things come in handy.

Maybe but he doesn't exist in the DA universe. Obviously sonsonthebia07's Grey Warden is Hawke's father and Bioware will be quickly importing his character's avatar into DLC for DA2 where we meet him.

I can queue up my other team member moves now, I think that's one of the best things. Overall i like the changes. However, I find it difficult to navigate the wheel because many things are changed or were rearranged now. For example spells, sustained or not appear to be in one menu. Bare in mind I maybe wrong because I only got a taste of the demo and won't be able to try it at my leisure until later. I also felt overpowered as a mage, I couldn't even die, never needed to heal or anything.
The textures on the characters are not that good compared to DA:O, but then again I notice these things because I was playing on a 42 inch screen. I mean the Hawke model is great but look at Aveline wrist and some other textures and you start to notice. The dialogue wheel is good but can become redudant, I mean I can ask Flemeth one thing over and over with only 3 choices and have the same scene play back over and over. Not a major problem though.
I can't rate the demo overall yet because I'm going to play it on ps3 too later because I'm thinking about getting this for both consoles, not sure. However, the small taste I got:
Graphic 7/10
Story/Dialogue 8/10
Combat is a hard one. I like the combat but I can't tell what is going on in the battlefield at times. All I know is I take control of aveline cast taunt, queue up Carver for an attack and I'm simply back to casting spells. The only cool thing I did was cast fireball at the same time as Beth and I was like wow because I did it accidentally without queue up.
So I would give combat 9/10
But would also like to note that I think combat would of been better with harder enemies, and with the ability to see what is happening around me. The enemies die too quick, I barely saw any death blows or understood when to preform cross-class-combos.
Edit: I'll be back later, I'm going to play on my 52 inch with other classes laters. So the ratings might change.

I'm going to do two more play-throughs to try out the Sword and Board Warrior and the Archer Rogue, then get back to my Canon Origins play-through.

I also liked Aveline. As in, a lot. I thought I wouldn't, but I do. (:
The combat is very quick and responsive. I love it

I keep dying against the ogre, any help?
Try to send Aveline to hold the attention of the orge and focus on taking out the darkspawn asap and then just gang up on it.

I've never heard of a digital headstart on a console... but the advertisement at the end showed an xbox360 game box in it...
Yeah I had no idea what that meant. It said "Pre order today for a digital headstart."
WTF does that mean?

Also, I've got a major girl-crush on Flemith now. She's much more epic this go around, compared to DAO. I love that she referenced Morrigan in one of the dialogue options as well. She said, "my daughter," so I am assuming. I was really upset at the length, but of course it was only the demo -- makes me totally stoked to get the game! Thank you amazon for release day delivery!

I still think ill be playing through as a Warrior though, but I definitely loved the crap outa the Rogue. I liked the whole minor-combo thing with Crit chance and the one ability that takes advantage of it. It basically has you wanting to max your damage but doing something like this.
Backstab -> Twin Strikes -> Base Attack 10+ times -> Explosive Strike. That combo is absolutely devastating to bigger HP pool mobs.
-edit-
Also for the textures. Anyone who thinks that demo textures are 'worse then DAO' has quite obviously NEVER PLAYED IT ON CONSOLE BEFORE. My god they where awful before. Your eyes where a blurry mess to the point of you not being able to tell what color they where.
I mean just look at my portrait on the left, thats a direct screen capture from char creation. The beard is blurry, Eyes are horrible. Most of the armor textures (for base stuff) where barely textured and relied more on a low resolution (extremely low) bump map to show detail. In odd lighting you looked like a giant color blob.
The demo, and by exception DA2 is leaps and bounds above that. And the PC will have much more defined textures packets for the higher end stuff.
