I went out to Gamestop and purchased a cable to hook my 360 up to my pc monitor (cost $40, but hey, cheaper than an HD TV at least), which has taken care of the problem for me..

I'm trying to do the same thing too, actually. I ordered a AV to VGA cable online. I just hope it arrives sometime next week. I'm wondering how connecting an xbox to a pc monitor will work though. Does your monitor have built in speakers or are you able to connect them? My pc monitor only has an audio-out option so I guess I won't be able to connect my speakers to it.

I've given up on bioware addressing this issue, so now I'm just trying to find an alternative way to play the game. Not sure if my pc monitor will work out, but I guess it is worth a try.

A monitor is generally just that, a video monitor.  Most monitors do not have speakers or audio capabilities by design.  Its one of the main things that differentiates them from a TV.  The video portion will work just fine, but you may need a pair of speakers or sound system to hear anything.

Okay, so lets make sure my facts are straight.

1) The Text is very small and in some cases unreadable to some gamers, due to TV, positioning of TV, vision issues or just a dislike of tiny text.

2) Its probably going to stay small in the final release of the game.

3) Will probably not be able to be patched as an update due to size limitations.

I might have a solution:

Make a add-on available on the Xbox 360/PS3 that enables the end user to decide if they want or need to increase the size of the text in there copy of the game. For this service Bioware charges a moderate fee ($3-5) to recoup the cost of the development of the add-on. (which I would gladly purchase on day 1)

To me this looks to be a reasonable solution, anyone else see a problem with this?

I don't see a HUGE problem with it  personally but I know that there would plenty of people nerdraging till hell freezes over if they charged for something like that that should have been addressed in development, and I wouldn't blame them.

Yeah I'd rather get it free too, but if the choice is go with nearly unreadable text or pay for a workable solution to my problem, I'll pay others may as well. But I also can't expect a game company to bend over backwards to please just me and a few other people if it is (as has been stated at length by some people on the forums) "Not everyone's problem". Hel, I dropped a couple bucks on the costume pack for ME2 just so I didn't have to look at battle scarred garus armor all game, so I've spent money on a less important issue...

All this reminds me of Mass Effect 2. Really, we're saying the exact same things over and over.
The most surprising fact is how Bioware simply ignored such a simple request (it requires, during development, 10 minutes of work? 20, maybe?), even if they seemed to listen at first.
Honestly, I would like to know exactly what a text so small adds gameplay or artistic-wise. I'm not complaining, it's sincere curiosity. If they've done it TWICE after all the messages, there must be a reason, and I would like to know it.

In the mean time, unless they release a patch (and we know they won't, we've seen it with ME2) , I won't be able to play Dragon Age 2. But this time I'm not getting fooled.

I called my Optician today. Told him I'll be there at the end of the week to pick my new glasses after my current vision get utterly destroyed under the strain of trying to read the text in DA2.

Not any better on my HDTV/Monitor. Was a real pain in the ass to get it set up in my room and it actually kind of looks worse. I'm guessing it's the cables and I'll need to replace them, but it's pretty crappy on both TVs.

But I have an HDTV, and it doesn't matter. Yiste, aren't you guys paying attention? The print size may be fine for pc's, but they're selling console games. The console games feature print that is too small to read under any given circumstances. Period. It's ridiculous. Especially for a game that changes according to the wording we choose to use.

It's not fine on PC. I have a 24" HD monitor and I have to change screen resolution to read it comfortably. I don't have to change resolution for any other game, including DA:O, and I should not have to change every time I want to play this game.

Bioware had this same issue with ME2 and ignored people then. They seem to be ignoring people now.
I had problems with the demo running and problems with the text size so my pre-orders of the PC and XBox versions have been cancelled. I'm not prepared to risk paying for a game I'm not going to be comfortable playing.

So I haven't heard of any patches, fixes, or even an answer better than "we're looking into it." The game is out and I'm not buying it. Bought a new guitar instead. If and when the devs fix this I'll pick up the game, but for now it doesn't make sense to buy a game I can't fully enjoy. If they don't fix I'll probably wait until I can pick it up used for $10-$20. I can wait a year or two. And I'll probably do the same with every other Bioware game in the future. How can I trust them to not do this a third or fourth time? I can't. A real shame.

Yep the text is the same size in the final game. "This is what the text is suppose to say". This is what I see on my screen "------ -- ---- --- ---- -- -------- --- ----."

Got a new set of component cables, hooked the PS3 up to my 19'' TV/Monitor, and the text is finally almost readable. It could stand to be a little bigger so I can sit further from my TV, but at least it's freaking readable after jumping through hoops. >.>

(I play on xbox 360 with SDTV.And no,I don't need glasses.So says the doctor.)
I was hoping that we were just getting worked up over nothing, and that, the reason why the devs didn't respond was because it might be larger in the final game.Sadly, it's not.I'm disappointed.I still got my SE copy anyways because it won't be easy to find later and I still want to play it.I can't afford an HDTV or a good pc right now. It's just not an option.Yes, I'm sure I could afford one if I gave up paying for 3 or 4 new games BUT,usually when I get a new game, half of the money that goes towards it comes from trading in another game(s).So, it's very rare that I actually pay full money for a new game.

I saw posts from people who have HDTV's and play it on the pc and, even they are having problems reading the text. That's very indicative of how bad the text is. I really do hope they release a patch to fix this.
The text was small in ME2, but it was still legible.People complained about that. One would think that Bioware took this into account for future games.I guess not.Or maybe they did but couldn't because they were told to make it smaller? Who knows!

I'm an understanding person.I don't think I should be treated special just because I can't read the text. But when other's complain about it, especially those that have the right equipment for optimal gameplay, something is definately wrong and it should be fixed.

Personally, I don't really understand why Bioware made the font so small. What was wrong with the size that Origins had? It was perfect for me.
I just hope it will soon be fixed. There's nothing wrong with my eyes really, I just don't have the money to buy a fancy HD TV. =(
