Bugs/Glitches/Technical Problems Found in XBox 360 Demo

I'm currently on my first play-through and I'm only up to the conversation with Flemith.  I love it so far.  The graphics are gorgeous!

However, I've noticed two problems so far.  When trying to talk to the male Templar Wesley after the first encounter with him, there is no audio to go with his talkie bubble.  Also, the volume varies greatly when talking to companions.  I'm not speaking of conversations, just when you randomly click on a companion and they say something like, "Can we get moving?"

The other problem I'm having is with the healer tactic for mages.  I'm playing a male rogue Hawke and I have his sister Bethany set with the healer tactic.  She is supposed to heal herself and companions at 50% damage and is doing a very poor job of it.  So poor that Hawke died during the Ogre fight just before Flemith arrives.

In DA:O I relied on the healer tactic, only needing to buy healing items before obtaining Wynne.  She was so effective as a healer that I had hundreds of unused healing items by the end of the game that I picked up randomly.  I never needed to buy any after Lothering.  I probably only had to use healing items a dozen times in the entire game.

Have tactics been nerfed in DA2 to force us to micro-manage or is there a legitimate issue with the healer tactic?

I'll post again if I find any more bugs/glitches/technical issues.

Seems Appropriate I post this here rather then a separate thread.

I've tried doing a runthrough with the mage and on both occasions I had to hard reset my console. I had no problem playing a rogue and it seems to happen using the fireball spell. The crash occurs just before the animation is about to start. I have selected my AoE and then briefly afterwards it crashes.

When I hit the menu button I hear it popup noise on the xbox but then nothing. Resulting in me having to get up and turn it off.

I suspect two things. On both occasions Im fairly sure the target I was selecting was on a slightly higher elevation then myself. Also I was using the spell at its maximum range.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar or have I just been really unlucky?! I will try and force another couple of situations later on to see if this is a recurring problem.

I suspect that the failure of the healer tactic has less to do with the tactic itself and more to do with the ridiculously long cooldown for the heal spell. With a 40 second cooldown, she is only going to be able to cast it once or maybe twice if it is a long battle. I'm micromanaging positioning of characters to get them away from mobs more than I'm managing actual attacks.

As for bugs encountered, on Xbox, my rogue periodically stops doing any damage at all after a few hits, particularly to enemies with high health such as ogres. Positioning, heal level etc. seem to have no effect on this. If I target another hostile then go back to the one that she stopped doing damage to, she does damage again for a couple of hits then stops doing any damage again.

Edit: Also, I don't know if it is the correct animation or not, but when the rogue makes several standard attacks in a row, the animation has her flopping around like a landed fish. It looks like she is repeatedly trying to dive into the rock  like it was a swimming pool and instead doing a belly-flop.

Like ^ said, the cooldown on Heal is really long, and if Bethany gets attacked, she'll probably end up wasting that healing on herself.

I noticed the Wesley thing too. I assumed it's because he's such a minor character. My rogue Hawke got stuck on a rock, and didn't come unstuck until a cutscene, when she jumped to where all the other characters now were. Also, the mage does some daft arm movement in combat sometimes, which is unrelated to spells cast or attacks. It's like an idle animation, within the battle.

Thank you.  When I created the topic I was hoping everyone would jump on board and list all their Xbox 360 specific bugs so BioWare can find them easier.

Just an update to what I posted earlier.

About the healer mage.  I realized that self was set to <50% while ally was set to <25%.  I made them both <50% and the problem was solved.  No one died.  No one even came close.

I've completed the demo as both a rogue and warrior now and Wesley definitely has no voice when not in a cinematic conversation.  On both play-throughs he moves his mouth and the text appears over his head, but no sound.  Ever.  I've tried over and over as I move along the path and he never speaks aloud.  I only hope this is an isolated issue with the demo.  This was a problem in DA:O.  Frequently characters would skip an entire vocal line while the subtitle still displayed in non-cinematic conversations

I have not encountered any other problems yet.  I'll update if I do..

Not sure if it was a bug or a glitch, but Wesley's dialogue didn't activate when I clicked on him.

In regards to the failing to do damage with a rogue issue. Was your rogue attacking with melee weapons or a bow?

Ok did a complete play through with the mage and used fireball almost exclusively. No problems this time. Hopefully I was just unlucky, but thought I better post my experience just in case. Having to hard reset your console is never good and even worse twice!

I tested fireball in loads of situations by forcing the enemy AI to go up slopes or down them. I never experienced the crash again. I used the spell up close and at the length of its range and tried every situation I could think of. I even got some guys to follow me up the stairs on Isabela's quest. There the elevation is really exaggerated but everything worked fine.

Small animation glitch I noticed this time round was if you cast a spell when the ogre is charging at you he runs right through you and you carry on casting. Once the casting animation finishes you fly halfway across the map. It was quite funny to witness.

@addicted: No problem =)

I have had to hard reset my console each time I've played as a mage.  It just froze.  I did not experience that problem playing warrior, but that was my first playthrough.

EDIT:  Just finished rogue playthrough with no problems.  Looks like it's definitely the mage.  Didn't notice what exactly I was doing when it crashed out.

I was playing as a female rogue when I noticed my brother was fighting with an invisible sword the whole time.

I was laughing at first, then I spent the entire demo watching him fight with this invisible sword and wondering if this was a foreshadowing of how many bugs the final version of the game will have... (No offense Bioware, I love you guys despite any hilarious bugs I will encounter. Image IPB )

That was one the two locations my game crashed out using fireball.   A couple of Darkspawn archers are standing on elevated ground.

Makes me feel slightly better that it wasnt just my xbox. The other time was during the next scene and Darkspawn were standing on the slope that leads up to where you fight the Ogre.

Could it be that the fireball is interacting with the terrain in front of the Darkspawn instead?  The game wants to register a hit on the darkspawn but is counteracted by a variable saying its impacted the terrain causing some sort of loop?  Of course I have no idea how the game system works im just throwing some ideas out.

Melee weapons.  I haven't tried another class or weapon style yet, so I don't know if it was specific to that character or global weirdness.

Is the choppiness and poor framerate (during most conversations and cutscenes) nothing to worry about for the final product? I was surprised, because Origins was pretty smooth in that regard, but the demo certainly wasn't.

Aside from that, everything was smooth, which felt like the 360 version of Origins (panning the camera around, etc).

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not. But I noticed that sometimes while playing as a mage and I target an Enemy, Hawke does this weird meditation animation. As I said im not sure its a bug, and I have tried searching for more info about it.

Its kinda annoying thou as I get attacked while she is there showing off.

I've encountered this exact same problem as well on the PC. Rogue with a bow seemed to be fine.

I noticed a couples typos during my playthrough. Not 'Don't you use spellcheck?' typos, but inconsistencies between class descriptions.

@Assassin Rex If I'm not mistaken, that 'meditation action' occurs when your target is out of range.

I've had a few bugs (unfortunately):

FemMage Playthrough:

* randomly teleport from one location to a location farther down the path during combat

* skipped cutscene (the first introducing Aveline. Didn't notice until Playthrough #2)

* some cutscenes freeze for a few seconds shortly after beginning (mainly the cutscene right after the first Flemeth appearance)

* Wesley's dialog not activating.

* Game froze shortly after second Aveline cutscene/dialog while battling Darkspawn. Had to hard reset.

FemRouge Playthrough:

* same stuttering during the beginning of cutscenes

* dialog/part of cutscene skipped during first meeting with Isabella. It went from the beginning of the cutscene to the end without the dialog I saw in the preview. Not sure if that was intentional.
