Anybody else experience any problems whilst playing the demo?

When I was playing as a dual wield rogue, my Hawke got stuck on a rock and I couldn't get her back until the ogre cutscene (where your sibling dies), at which point Hawke just appeared for the boss battle. I had to play as Bethany until then and leave Hawke on the rock.

Seems like a few people have been having different problems for the demo.

texture problems and FPS problems here. That's with a GTX 580 and quad :/ Tried DX11, will switch to DX9 to see how it goes (FPS varied from 60 to 9 in the same scenes).

Also, I can't seem to be able to save.

Just switched to DX9 and it's night and day. MUCH better (50-60 fps all the time maxed out).

I'll try the latest drivers soon to make sure it's not those since I'd like to use the DX11 features available. For example, WoW runs a LOT better on DX11 then DX9 on my setup.

If anyone's interested, I'll keep updating the status of this particular setup (nVidia 580 + drivers).

Gluck to everyone and cheers :)

Status update..

Will, thanks for the info on the save ^_^

AS for performance, I installed the latest nVidia drivers (266.58) and now it's constant 60fps (all the time) :wizard:
Old drivers were 263.09

Card is the EVGA GTX 580 OC.
Using Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Thing is, I might have misled you earlier when I said that DX11 was crappy compared to DX9. I checked if I was really running in DX11 (after installing the 266.58 drivers... didn't check on the old drivers) and it turns out that I'm always in DX9 even tho I selected DX11.

I don't really mind since the graphics are amazing and it's running very very smoothly right now but I thought I should mention it.

Also, before I installed the new drivers, my PC had been up and running for 36~ hours doing mods for DA:O (toolset) and testing them. That means that I do changes in say, cutscenes, then I run DA:O to test it while leaving the toolset running in the background, exiting the game to correct something or add new stuff to the scene etc... all this without a single reboot.
THAT might have had something to do with the previous mediocre results as well. Since I didn't check each individually (reboot only, then installing the new drivers), I can't say which was the problem... sorry .

Note that everytime I alt-tab to update this thread, the game crashes after 10-20 seconds while I'm typing... this happened 3 times so far (all 3 times I came to update this thread).

Cheers...

P.S. thx for letting have a preview of the game itself  Loving the mage so far and kudos on the engine guys, pretty amazing stuff!

P.P.S. I'd like to know if DX11 is really implemented in the demo if you happen to read this (the option is there but my tool is telling me I'm still running in Dx9).  Tool used to determine the DX used is EVGA Precision 2.0.2.  This tool detects all DX versions and has been doing so accurately since I have it. (Predator, Heaven Bench, Just Cause, Mafia, Call of Pripyat, etc)

I can barely hear what they're saying when i enter into a dialogue cutscene !!!!
I use my headphone .. It's really just when they're talking in a dialogue cutscene.

The sound is definitly not equilibrium!

Edit

Well .. Look at this .. *Force stereo sound(Headphone only)

problem solved.

Bioware ... ^_^

Agreed on sound. It's too low even at max sounds. I can hear them, but compared to DA:O that I've been using all day, it's much lower.

Using Headset Creatibe Labs Fatal1ty HD1000.

@Suprez30

Cool, I'll give it a shot (didn't do it the first time since Windows is set to Stereo Headphones already) but worth a try. Thx

The only issue I've experienced was a small hole in Isabela's character :P
Could have been for my graphics card, but that was the only thing. Loved the game.

Loving it as well, but it crashes frequently. The farthest I've gone so far is when I meet the Templar & his wife. (just happened now). Hope there's an autosave otherwise, it'll be tough to complete the demo.

@Suprez30, setting the headphone thingy helped increase the sound level.

Having some fps problems myself, getting under 10 fps since the battle cutscene at the start and very poor fps when the gameplay started.

My Specs:

AMD Phenom™ II X4 20 Processor

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 (1 gb) - Lastest Drivers Installed

8gb DDR3 ram

Playing the game on 1920x1080, 16:9

Graphics Detail on Very High

Anti-Aliasing 4x

Renderer DX11

Im fairly sure I should be getting much higher fps as I have no fps problems in any games I own.

I could be getting low fps due to the fact I am transferring 694gb worth of files from one harddrive to another at the moment on my pc.

Will also test the game on lower graphical details.

Weird, I set my graphics to Very High when I first ran it, but it reverted to High only. And now, Very High is greyed out. <Sigh>

Also, since I've been crashing 3 times in the 10-15 minutes (with no autosave yet), I'll just post one of the events and retry tomorrow with perhaps a different set of drivers.

Event below...

Ok crashed 3 times in the last 10-15 minutes.

Finally was able to finish the demo (after many many crashes).

The trick that did it for me was running the game in Windowed mode. (DX11 or DX9) everything maxed out.

For those that might need to know.

I haven't gotten past the appearance selection/naming screen yet. I've tried dx9 and 11, and I've tried running windowed and full screen. It runs fine up until the crash.

I'm having this same problem. 5 out of the 6 times I've crashed after or right when I start the charater screen. I've made it pass it once and after that everything went ok and I finished the demo, but I would like to try every class and this isn't helping.

Excuse you me, guys could you help me?

When you start up the demo for the first time it begins to verify the system. What happens is the progress bar freezes at about 4 bars. I don't know any way around it. If anyone knows a solution then I would much appreciate the help.

DX9 here on a Radion 4870 and w7, no problems at all with fps etc but three times now the game crashes after the cutscene where the family escapes. I managed to grab the staff on the dead body once but so far the game just crashes to the desktop.

Wellwell, at least I know my comp will run it with good fps, but a bit underwhelmed by the graphics, sure I can't do the dx11 show but why can I only choose medium as maximum detail? That ogre fighting scene felt a bit barren.

Here's to hoping for a more stable full release:)

In the config tool ... try to set the setting
Graphics Detail: medium
Anti-aliasing: to no higher than 4
Render: DX9
try turning V-sync off

Remember to save the settings ;)

If I run them any higher the Demo seems to get unstable
