About a year ago I had NWN2 and the expansions installed on this computer via discs
But I have since then lost all of the discs and CD keys... so I bought the game on steam.

However, after installing the game and updating when I attempt to run it it gets caught on the
"first time update, preparing to launch game" screen, where it reads something like "Installing Microsoft DirectX"
It takes a few minutes but then crashes. Every subsequent time I attempt to run the game it crashes immediately.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, but the problem persists.

I have directX 11.

Go to Microsoft and get the DirectX v9.0c redistributable file for your OS and install that.
