with that said
i played the demo and only thing that came to my mind is wow bioware out did themselfs
graphics battle game play in genral was outstanding
and flemath was just bit freaky it was like she was completely differnt than dao 1 but was great just the same
combat was a mass improvement the warrior charge instead of just having to run to your next enemey i was able to intercept and protect the mage
and mages casting was outstanding as well instead of some random littel blue light it made me feel like i was doing more than what mages in dao did
what ever worrys i had about this game has been put to ease normaly i would not pay 60 bucks for a new game but this game would be more than worth it
keep up the great work i exepct these same results on all your games now so dont let us down bioware /images/forum/emoticons/love.png

Probably Microsoft's decision to do that, since they're the ones selling LIVE Gold. I can't see that BioWare gets any benefit from having fewer people playing the demo.anillop wrote...

PURLEEEEZE, BioWare! Do not make me smash the A button for 40hours... Will auto-attacking - like in Origins - be enabled for the full release?
Button bashing is all well and good, but being FORCED to jab A is not.
Yes, in the full version you can switch on Auto Attack.

I was looking forward to bash BioWare for streamlining the combat mechanics, but the fast paced action is surprisingly good and fun. Frankly the normal difficulty is waaaay easier than the normal difficulty of DA:O so I didn't really pay attention to the tactics. Loved the new skills and tree layouts. I believe the full game will have many situations which will require me to use the tactics, especially on highest difficulty.
The game runs fine on my relatively new rig with maximum details. I tried to enable DX11 but it was super glitchy, maybe we're not even supposed to enable it... and I think some options are locked. And there were a few momentary pauses in the beginning of cutscenes or new enemy "waves".
This has been brought up many times, but it can't be stressed enough: the UI looks too bland, too sterile. Please add some flavor to it, or better, make it customizable.

I really liked the demo so far except for one major thing: I can't access the isometric view (PC).
Is it because it has been removed from the actual game or is it just a demo issue?
Removed.

I thought the transition from the prologue to the later mission was very jarring. Its not a big deal because its not how it looks in the final game, it just was very weird to accelerate forward that fast.

I was dissapointed we did not get to see lothering and it looks like we won't see its destruction in the final game
either, the combat is pretty good but it dosen't feel like your actually hitting the target its more like hour just wacking them with a wooden stick. The voice acting for hawke, bethany and carver was really bad and there was hardly any emotionional grip to them i wasn't upset at all.Flemeth's kate mulgrew is as good as ever her appearence was the only part of the demo i found interesting. The frame rate is terrible it sometimes skips dioulouge if this is what the final game is like i won't buy for a while.
Verdict.
+ Good writing
+good combat.
-Terrible voice acting by some of the characters.
-horrible frame rate and glitches il give it a 5.7bout of 10

Ya Chris stated in another thread that was Microsofts decision.

At the moment, I don't know how to explain it, but the game doesn't feel right. I'll have to play through the demo once more to try to figure out what's amiss.

Hydro,
The auto-attack toggle you can turn on in the full version for the consoles.
I like that there will be a toggle. I mean I prefer hitting A to attack but I can understand if people dont likeit.

The combat system is ok. Fem hawke is great. Darkspawn look retarded. The graphics are ok as far as I can tell on my xbox.
I will probably still buy it, but I am rather disappointed. Oh well. Fem hawke is enough reason to buy.

It's worth a try anyway. And my demo is now practically installed for the PC. Hopefully it'll run well. I'll grab the PS3 version tomorrow.

great demo!
i loved the voice acting from both Lady and Male Hawke they were really cool and i also loved the fact that u r now given an indication in the dialogue wheel about what kind of tone the chosen dialogue is.
i noticed a few bugs such as Wesley's dialogue not working when u click on him (as mentioned previously... just wanna make sure its known that lots of ppl are experiencing it) and some of Flemith's dialogue being cut off and she then proceeds to say the next line.
again other ppl mentioned this and it drives me nuts as well so ill say it again. in advance i apologize for not having an HDTV and being unemployed but really what can i do? but not being able to read text is really disappointing i thought it was a lil bad in DA: O and horrible in mass effect 2 and it seems to have carried over to DA 2, i'd love an option to make it bigger.
the combat was REALLY fun i love the changes and having to press A was cool for me i liked it it felt like u were actually doing something when ur major talents/spell were on cd. im sure i might get tired of it in the future so i'd love to see the toggle auto attack in the full game. ohh and the animations in combat were awesome!
also i noticed that when u loot items u couldn't press X (360 version mind u) to read more info or a description about the item while in the loot window, im hoping and assuming this is only like this in the demo cuz its a demo and not the full game with the lovely unlocked inventory but it bugged me all the same.
also i saw Carver in the cut scene in the Hanged Man. i understand this is more than likely not going to be a bug or an issue in the full game as when u go there in the full game u chose to go there and actually engage in dialogue and its not just a cut scene as in the demo. all the same it was kinda lame that he was just killed like 5 mins ago and then all of a sudden hes in a bar with me.
overall i really enjoyed playing this demo and look forward to playing on march 8th nice work bioware!

Tell that to Micro$oft. The Devs said that you would not need Gold for the demo but it looks like M$ desided to force it. You can try contacting a Dev and se if they can fix it.anillop wrote...

I'm displeased with Hawke's reaction to the death of his sibling. I know it's the heat of the moment and everything, but he didn't even seem particularly phased by it at the time. In fact, he shows more emotion when killing Aveline's husband than he does for Bethany or Carver! I do hope that we'll actually get a chance to mourn them in some fashion, because this is one thing that just should not be glossed over like the obvious existential issues that should have arisen from Shepard's resurrection--but I digress.
As for the death of the brother/sister, I feel as though this is a perfect example of subpar writing at work. Now, I understand the need for balance. Having two mages in your party right off the bat, only to get a third one later would probably end up breaking the game down the line. However, I feel as though killing the opposite-class sibling off was a poor decision.
For starters--why should we care? We're barely past the opening sequence! Hawke has known them all his life, but WE as the players do not. Throwing them to the proverbial (and in this case literal) ogre so early on in the story does absolutely nothing for us. There's absolutely no emotional impact whatsoever, beyond "Oh crap, I guess the darkspawn are actually dangerous, even though we've been slaughtering them effortlessly by the dozens!" At this early stage they may as well be nameless redshirts, and that is particularly disappointing for me.

X-Box 360 player, 1080p TV, DA:O is favorite game this generation after Heavy Rain, played dual wield rogue, favorite class from DA:O, but liberally switched to all companions
Combat: can't stand it as is in the demo, like closing moves but not lack of action when out of range, animations are way too choppy, severely miss basic enemy deathblows for change of pace and visceral, epic feel, keep getting the same basic attack combo with distracting flashes of light every strike and too much blood spray, even saw a darkspawn get torso cleaved in two and couldn't tell you which animation it was tied to. not nearly enough damage per strike, gets monotonous, feels like I'm playing a linear, less polished, choppy Dynasty Warriors type button masher. :-( expect auto-attack to improve my experience more than somewhat along with hopefully smoother animation at some point
story side: like the convo wheel, especially how it ties emotional stance to character and pulls companions more directly into narrative beats, hope for much more story in and around Lothering early, expect it was just held back for main game, if not I really, really miss the more expansive, impactful origins from DA:O, expect great writing- really the reason I'm keeping my pre-order after this demo
Visuals: character textures seem too smooth, cartoon like, but still enjoyable, like the animation of the more scripted scenes very much, can't comment on environments as I feel we haven't really seen a complete one yet
Other: miss getting to talk to companions 1 on 1 while walking around ala Origins over this tap and one-liner ala Awakening, text is a little small and a little dimly lit/dark , can't comment on sound, voice acting, menus, music, etc. yet
Overall: would not recommend demo to anyone not already a fan, will buy off pre-order still for story/writing/character and related game system

They can't fix that, not that there's anything to be fixed. It's simply microsofts policy. If you can't deal with that, tough I guess.

Voice over for the main character, graphics, dialogue, ... it all makes the game feel fresher and an improvement to the already epic Origins. The stuff released sofar doesn't do this game justice!
One bad thing I have to mention:
I was playing male warrior, and for some reason when I used a healing potion, the action would immediately be overriden by the auto-attack before it could be fired. I died a few times because of this, with me trying to use the potion but always failing... :/
