Dragon Age 2 Demo feedback thread

After reading some of the posts, I decided the biggest mistake about this demo is this is an early build. Devs mentioned some of the bugs people experienced are not in the final game and the demo has issues with dx11 which were not an issue in the final build, visa versa....
So let me ask a simple question: Why the hell did you release this, knowing all the crappy issues about the demo? You people (I don't know whether intentionally or not) clearly take away some of my sanity. While amazed by new mage animations, the way mobs move around the battlefield just made me sick. Watching my rogue cutting through enemies was satisfying except, enemies literally cut into two pieces or just exploded!?! many of the time.
There are some other issues but I think they are corrected in the final game. So to make it short, I don't regret I preordered, on the contrary my trust in Bioware was not in vain. But what you did yesterday killed something inside me, again. If the case was to supress the nerd rage in the 02.01.2011 incident, it would have been much better if you didn't released this incomplete and buggy demo.

Also your use of spelling is abhorible and might have obscured my ability to understand your post.

Combat much better. Some of the responses are a little sluggish though. First playthrough (Female dual wielding rogue - always my fave) down. Now have to keep going.
Like the dialogue wheel, although I tend to play RPGs for the storyline so this is a good development. Looking forward to the rest of the game.

Too late to change if for the full game, but there WERE looted items simply marked as "loot" with no apparent use. So...the dreaded vender trash. I'm going to hope that's not in the full game. Vender trash serves no purpose except to make me shuffle inventory like an Excel spreadsheet and spend about an hour of dead time dealing with item management.

playing the first bit i felt like a hero with all the skills enabled.. it was great, splatting those darkspawn was very satisfying.
After that was me playing the story from the begining, thats a fun angle. i died a couple of times cause the caption about taking a h-potion went so fast i didnt get time to read it, but i noticed the icon bottom right a while into the demo.("im taking a health potion") hehe that was unexpected ;-p .
The character we know from DA-O, OMG you did an amazing job on her! even looks a little like her irl.
I missed the finnishing blow moves on the ogres ect.. Im hoping that its just cause its a demo.. i liked the fin blows in DAO.
Overall, its really good, i can't wait till its released. well done,
regards,
a happy customer.

But DAO just felt... more real. I went back and played as Sten for a bit. He's a huge, powerful guy, but you see him take effort as he hefts Asala and brings it around in a long slow arc. Even a guy as big and strong as he is has to make an effort to use his weapon.
In the demo, my tiny girl character, clad in heavy armour, has no problems jumping ten feet in the air weilding a sword that looks heavier than she is. Sorry, don't need the crazy anime combat. And the rogue was even worse - pure Power Rangers nonsense.

There seems to be a lot of mixed feelings about this sequel we've all been waiting for. Which is not suprising considering that DA has gotten such a revamp. In the end EA will lose some of the old fans and gain some new ones.
Not really. Most people who complain in this thread are posting multiple times. The people who didn't enjoy it will seek out the forums and complain. The people who enjoyed it have nothing to say, so they will silently wait. The vast majority of people like the changes.
I can see this easily getting better scores than DA:O
This is such faulty logic and just a way to wave off criticism as whininess.
He does have a point... people generally whine b**** and moan more than post rosey praise.

I love what was done with dialogue - the voiced character is such a great change, a la Mass Effect.
I love the spiffy new combat animations, it feels faster, but you can still micromanage if you must, but it feels fun! I love that mages can do some up-close melee combat (that was a Whoa! moment, as was the first time my rogue did the backstab move!). People are complaining combat is too fast - but really, combat is supposed to be fast! I love the change!
Visually it's much nicer - the textures are much improved as well, the menus and the like, in ME style, are much nicer. All around, I think it's a great improvement.
I had a few slight glitches in cutscenes and flow, but otherwise it was all awesome
GREAT JOB!

- classes are really balanced this time, I love it! Those skilltrees for each class was a brilliant idea.
- new dialog system is fantastic, and each time I tried to say other things and conversations varied so much, characters were responding sometimes entirly different, wooow
- everything is more functional - f.ex.portraits are lower so I can change companions using mouse without pressing pause button, and I don't have a lot of different mana and health potions on this talent bar.
-combat: I thought it would be a way too fast, well, it is a little too fast for me but I don't need to pause all the time, so it's ok.. and more resposive.
- lady Hawke runs funny
- combat animations:
- the demo is so short:( but it was so fun to play it, I can't wait for the full game!!! I want it nooowww:pinched: please?
Overall : Now I adore Dragon Age even more!

gj Bioware. Dont listen to these artsy farsty, stuck-up neigh-sayers. This is a good game.

Why are you comparing these games? Might as well compare Mass Effect to Kotor and say they are the same graphics wise. (derp)

2 handed warriors taking 5 seconds to swing is realistic? Are the swords in DAO like 50 pounds or something?

I do have 2 gripes, and one of them could be kind of mood killer for this game. I notice alot of folks referencing the pauses in the cinematic/conversation scenes and I have to echo these. I really hope this is non-existent in the full game because that is a REALLY bad thing to allow through or even consider "ok" for a game of this caliber.
Secondly, the AoE targetting. I understand the change, but making it not useable by selecting a character as the focal point seems a bit backwards. Should be an easy fix via a patch unless you've already done that for the full game.
Beyond that, still very impressed and loving the game. Oh, the rather busty female characters - I have to agree some of them [Bethany/Isabela] look a bit TOO much, but - it's not a major issue for me. It just does seem a bit strange >.>

After playing through on my PC, I'll hold my criticisms of the "Low res textures" till I see the final product since limiting settings is common these days for demos.

Dev posts have stated that the pause stuttering mess in the game is fixed in the final build
