The new play style will probably grow on me, but I feel it's really geared more towards the consoles with their controllers. The indoor levels probably aren't designed to crop the tops of caves and buildings for top down view like DAO, which I think is pretty sad. I did see that you can turn damage numbers back on in the options which will help with one of my gripes from the demo. Looking forward to seeing reviews of the full game before I decide whether to buy.
Worth noting, for some reason I got no little 'Loading...' message at all during the second play through, or they were too short to notice. Much slicker than my first play through.

haha I have glasses and I am still a liar (well at least you think so, which means very little... opinions are like farts in a wind tunnel... think I burn't myself as wellRixxencaxx wrote...
everyone who says that da2 graphics are better than dao are liars or need a pair of new eyeglasses....
ps maybe a mod could cancel the "benny hill show movements" of the game

I think....the Ogre's health is just too high...
With the streamlined and sped up combat. Running into the ogre to slowly take off tiny pieces of it's health was a bit of an Anti-'Fight like a spartan, think like a general' moment.
The rest of the combat felt good though. Real good. But just lower the Health by about 20 - 30% and I think you'd be on the money.
Considering the levels of the characters in this demo I think Bioware got it right. Did you think you were going to take down the ogre so easily that early in the game?
It's not about taking the ogre down easily, it's about having a long, drawn out boring fight. There's no reason for him to have that much HP.
Yep, Bioware shouldn't mess with our minimal attention spans. I mean, fighting the same creature for more than a couple of seconds, HOW DARE THEY!!!!!!!

I may be an older RPGer on the board, actually started with D&D in 1982.....
Anyway, visually I enjoyed game, my slight concern with the game, and only time will tell, is that it seems to be leaning towards the console player and steering away from the PC player who has a tendency to play these games over and over, and not trade them in after beating it in a week...
I am hoping this will not just be a hack & slash but have depth as I feel the 1st one did.....
Either way, thank you for allowing us a taste of DAII

With a combat system as boring as this, yeah, how dare they.

The fights pretty much played out themselves. The last ogre fight was pretty much the only fight in the demo that required the slightest bit of thinking. Hopefully the combat is a lot more challenging on higher difficulties. And what's up with the making enemies explode up in blood? it just feels stupid..
..
The last ogre was completely automatic for me - Avilene going 1:1 toe-to-toe with the ogre at 75% heath while Bethany was being chased by a crowd of darkspawn. That happened after i fed Hawke a health potion too late and he fell mid-battle.

Its a demo!! its designed to show glimpses of the game!! it does not flow as the main game will you can be certain if carver dies then when you eventually get to that cutscene he will not be thier.. so many people are mentioning this but don't panic its not a fatal design flaw, when they put the demo together they have pick and mixed what they wish to reveal to tantalize and tease that is allGunClubGirl wrote...
One other thing I forgot to mention was that even though Carver had died he was there with Marian as they were entering Kirkwall... back from the dead...

- During the tutorial section, Hawke's mother and the Templar, instead of walking behind you, just stand in one place, teleporting every so often.
That cracked me up

I liked that the Ogre is harder to take down, in DAO the ogres was way to easy. The ogres should be badass, as they clearly can break a man with just one hand in the middle of battle. (refering to King Cailan)
Are you kidding? This new Ogre is pitiful!
In DA:O, there is no wa you could have taken out the Ogre in Ostagar with just one guy. 4 guys vs. 1 ogre - a difficult fight.
In the DA2 demo, I can take it out with juht Aveline. Without doing anything. An it has backup. 3 guys vs. 1 ogre and lots of hurlocks. Easy as pie.
That Ogre fight was he most dissapointing thing in the entire demo. Weak. Pathetic. It didn't feel dangerous or powerfull at all!.

1) The graphics. Seriously that just looks crap and is a complete step backwards, around the corner into a dark room with the door closed from DAO
2) Why is backstabbing with a rogue a selectable talent instead of automatic when you are in postion? Why, why, why? Part of the fun of being a rogue is sneaking into position and then unleashing hell on the opponents hind side until they either die or realise. Doing a flicker into position and then stabbing is just cheap and nasty.
Other than that I think the game will be pretty good. Not as good as origins but still good none the less.
Oh and I hope the god like strength of the characters in the demo is just to give us a taste of it because seriously, that was way too easy.

Well, feel free to Build YOUR characters like that. me, I'll have my warrior pump points into DEX and CUN, so that I score more criticals and do more damage with them.Anomaly- wrote...
. Attributes are so shallow, too. Basically, a rogue
invests in dexterity and cunning; a mage invests in magic and willpower;
and a warrior invests in strength and constitution, perhaps dexterity
if he really wants to mix things up. There is no incentive to break away
from that mold. I hoped for the opposite, to see attributes become
deeper.

Yes, injuries anyone? This game will require much less thought than the original IMO.

game play: I like the combat, archer is much more effective, dare I say too powerful. demo played smoothly but character would lock up with no ability to move tham unless you moved another party member first. the loading for the cut scene is awkward loading it odd times "discussion by casandra calling varric out on his story comes to mind.
graffics: are nice, people complain about the opening scene at lothering but I read the bight corrupts everything animals anf land its self so makes sence.
I am hoping that when start the full game I can set my characters starting skill points and abilities?
So far I like it and am glad I pre ordered, post again after 3/8/11
