A Jrpg would have had the blade at least 5 times wider than that.

Did you actually see the size of the greatswords in DAO?

There's also a pang... of betrayl in me. I knew my Warden would never stay forever, but somehow, I can't help but feel a tad cheated as if everything she had done meant nothing. That, unlike a lot of us though, she no longer feels like the mirror image of Shepard. The fact that Hawke has been described as 'a symbol, a champion, the single most important person in all of Thedas', makes me feel as if my Warden has been replaced, as if Origins was nothing more then the cheap beta of a game series that would mirror and rival Mass Effect, starring Hawke. The simple fact that talk of a DA3 is being played up already despite DA2 not even being released yet, only makes the feeling worse. I won't make final judgements until DA3 has been confirmed and until AFTER I've played through DA2, and see just how much my Warden did play a part in Thedas and maybe even Hawke's destiny.
I too struggled with this. I guess ENDING the blight is not good enough for some people. My warden gave his life for Ferelden and some straggler from Lothering reeps all the glory!? I know that sounds a bit harsh since we do not know Hawke's complete story and how he becomes the champion of Kirkwall. I think this feeling of alienation from Warden users in DAO is becuase now we are on a different foot if you will. We are seeing another story. Those who met the warden praised him, worshiped, respected and were just touched by just being his/her companion. Dragon age is all about stories and our Warden's story is not the only heroic story in all of Thedas. While the Warden was fighting the war others were keeping the home front in check if you will.
Also it is said that outcomes made in Origins, Awakening, Witch Hunt and GOA will be transferred into DA2. So i'm sure we will be hearing of our Warden's tale throughout DA2.

Archer rogues are as overpowered as mages, and 2 Handed Warriors get the short end of the stick... otherwise I like everything about the game, just my 2 cents.

The demo suffered from severe Consolitis, meaning the state of a game designed for the limitations of a console and then poorly imported to the PC, and I sincerely hope that the Bioware's design team did not release the actual intro to the game, Mashing a button repetitively is not exciting game play and best reserved for the spastic sugar induced actions of twelve year olds than adults. Also the dialog options were very few and you do not get a chance to talk to party members outside of combat to understand that character's persona and role in the story. I also enjoy using a widescreen monitor and I hope the UI can be minimized further, I would like to have the potion bar hidden until moused over if possible.
The graphics are exceptional and I am pleased with the work they put in, I would however like to see more idle animation for the characters and to have the musical score improved, I imagine all of that will happen with the full release however.
One final thought, has anyone noticed that you cannot harm others with your attacks? I could cast a fireball into my party and I was harmed. I seriously hope this is not normal game-play in the released version!

I played on the PS3 & the PC.
On the PS3 I got my butt handed to me by the Ogre and then I moved to the PC. The characters were too busy with their fancy schmancy combat moves to drink their health potions. I kept clicking on the potions, but they wouldn't stop to drink them.
The potion situation wasn't AS bad on the PC. I managed to make it though the battle & finish the demo.
I had that issue on PC, I should have kicked the ogres butt, but they refused to drink potions so died and I had to repeat it 5 times.
I also had this issue, I think there's a cool down time on potion use (I think it should be lowered a tincy bit). Also, I miss my overhead camera view for PC
The UI is, well... the good thing is that it's pretty intuitive, but it doesn't look like it belongs in a fantasy game (almost a little too modernized?)
Overall, I thought the demo was great, but a little buggy. I'm sure actual game is more polished anyway.

"ANOTHER WAVE!"
but imho cutscenes very bit louzy, and VA felt strange, it may be a fact not used to med. fantasy PRG with voice acting, but yeah, felt clumpy, in march is deciding time though.

even weirder on seeing people complain...i thought the chars were great...and the gameplay was fast and nice..beein waiting for a game that had this gameplay and good rpg elements...
and about Witcher 2 and DA II...i will buy them both...problem solved..both great games...but this is really not the place to attack other games...

Surely in 120 pages this has been mentioned, but a complaint: I hate having to target the ground exclusively for AOE attacks. It basically forces you to pause the game, especially to land an attack with a small impact area in a crowd. It's just a royal pain, imo, and I kinda miss the auto-target "lock on" from Origins.
This is something that was really bugging me on the PC version. Not being able to activate an AOE spell just because an enemy is standing in front of your pointer is really annoying.

I agree with this. I hope that it was just this way for the demo because my favorite part of DA:O was NOT combat, it was the story and dialogue with the characters (and all of the side conversations that happen while walking about).

So a different feel, pacing and balance are "nothing"?
Include active backstab, no tactial view, button mashing instead of strategy, acrobatics in full plate that make Drizzt fights like a stone golem etc. to that nothing. <_<
Yes it's indeed "nothing" because its either a Lie (button mashing instead of strategy) or irrelevant (arguing about "realism" in a fantasy game is beyond retarded). The engine is the same as in DA:O in every single meaningful aspect and everyone who claims otherwise just doesn't know what he/she is talking about.

im not going to say the game is crap but that was one of the worst demos i have ever played the combat was hack and slash all the way, the dialogue wheel was poor with exactly the same amount of choices as mass effect 2 (i like that game but as an action rpg), the quick-bar cant be expanded in the demo like you could in the original and the weapons need to be scaled down as has already been mentioned.
all in all im extremely disappointed as shogun 2 total war is coming out and until this demo i was getting dragon age 2 but now its shogun 2 because i have no idea what bioware have done to da2

the interface is a substandard console port, with horrible layout, and frankly generic design, it has no soul compared to DA1, or frankly even ME/Me2 which were vastly better. Camera layout you cant even see what your group is doing at all. No tactical camera or objective camera to view things, just the silly over the shoulder which means you do not even see fights at all if your a melee character. DA2 interface lacks soul, and is clearly abou as a cheap a version of a console port with all the same issues.
The combat is frankly generic action RPG combat, with no soul at all. Right click spam coupled with an occasional button mash from 1-10 is a joke. IF some kind of chains or combo moves were in the game, mabye it would be worthwile. Hell witcher was done 3 years ago, and has vastly superior action rpg combat.
Cutscenes and storyline appear to be up to bioware standards, however the dialogue chioce is horrible. 3 words to describe what you say, which ends up not even being close to what you want to say. Graphics are good, i was stuck at medium , might be an issue with the demo though not supporting higher detail to keep the size down. overall graphically no issues, the whole giant sword thing ala JRPG is a minor issue for me,given the blatently poor quality of the overall UI, combat and gameplay.
DA1 was a great successor to NWN/BG/BG2 style of rpg. while ME/ME2 have been great successors to SWTOR series. DA2 is however for me a failed effort at best, and a simple money grab from EA at worst. Its hard to express without being vulgar how bad i find the demo to be, and it has basically put me off buying the game.

I agree also. I'm hoping the "party camp" will continue to house many interesting converstaions and bonding moments. I have no doubt they will do this in the final product but I'm glad someone else brought this up just in case.

press it. also it seemed to me as if the camera was closer than in
orgins, not that its a big deal just that i had difficulty seeing the
battlefield at times. i had some of the cool rpg stuff that origins had,
but it did feel.. "wh*red up" for mainstream people to buy it. i felt
like i was playing champions of norath at times w/ all the hack and
slash. but then again they are a company that wants to make money and
sadly this stuff sells. im still buying it i like the story but i have a
feeling i will be enjoying gameplay less.
